summer

Well, it's been an interesting summer. I had a REALLY long post all typed up about my trip to New York but then my computer crashed and LJ didn't manage to save it. I'll write up a something short...

So I went to NYC pretty much right after I got home from uni. My mother was not pleased. It was my first trip completely on my own. Totally fun. I didn't meet up with any of my friends for the first day and a half I was there and honestly, I think I like traveling alone. To a certain extent. It would be ok for a day or two, but I don't think I'd like it after that.

The main reason for going up was to watch the last Roma match of the season with promakos at Sora Lella where the New York Roma Club is based. Lovely people, though I think we were all a bit too nervous about the match to chat much. Sadly, we didn't win the Scudetto, but I don't think any of us really expected it. There was much shouting and gesturing at the tv when the broadcasters decided to show parts of the Inter match, and some general craziness when we scored and Inter still hadn't. I'm definitely going to try and catch another match there if I can. It's a bit of a trip though, all the way from Virginia.

promakos and I met up with a friend for dinner on one of the nights we were there and wandered around the city with another (juve tifoso!) friend of ours and then out to Queens to his family's gelato shop. Best. Gelato. Ever. Errr, in the States that is. Good thing it's a bit difficult to get to or I would be there every day I am ever in NYC. That would be a disaster. Tasty, but a disaster.

Let's see... I went to the Met as usual. Wandered around with promakos and stared at Greek and Roman statues and pottery and chariots and etc... yeah. I love Romans :D We got a text from our friend Mike (of the gelato shop fame) telling us to go to the Adidas store because Jozy Altidore was there that day. I have to say, I looked incredibly out of place in the line at the store. Me and my maxi dress and huge sunglasses right next to a bunch of guys in jerseys. It was hilarious. Anyway, he was super cute! And tall. promakos and I both took pictures with him and they're hilarious to look at next to each other. He looks like a giant in the picture with her and er not so much in the one with me. Still taller though. Tall enough *hint hint* lol. Really nice guy too, sadly we didn't really get to say anything to him, the security at the event hurried everyone along after they got a signature.

Fun weekend :D er five days. I shopped, of course. I went to Lord & Taylor (sigh, I love that place so much, my bank account does not) and bought a dress (on sale!):

It looks much cuter on, I promise.

I also went to H&M. Surprisingly I didn't find a ton I wanted, but the things I love.

Went to Chinatown, highly entertaining and full of so much interesting food! I can't wait to go back, I'm going to make sure I'm starving the next time.

I also got some origami paper that I think I'm going to use to paper a wall in my dorm this semester.

And then the random things I bought at Loehmann's and a stand outside the Met...

Anyway, super fun trip and I can't wait to go back. Hopefully a bunch of my friends and I are going to all meet up in NYC over the Winter hols.

erm. clearly I need to figure out how to make pictures all a uniform size :/ obviously computers and html are NOT a strength of mine.
