Ohio 2011: West Side Market

Jun 14, 2011 18:29

You can't go to Cleveland without hitting the West Side Market. Every ethnic food is represented here, including world-famous gyros and falafel. I almost wept when I saw the piles of beautiful rhubarb, which you better believe I bought and pie'd up. But vegetables is not what I am bringing you in this photopost, no.

What the fuck is this?! This is the makings for a quadruple bypass! AND YET. ♥

Okay, this booth, Campbell's Popcorn Shop, had these little crank-machines for people to sample their different kinds of popcorn, including, as you can see, caramel, caramel-apple, cheddar and dill pickle popcorn, but the one that got me was called Dichotomy Popcorn, which they're famous for. It's caramel-cheddar, with some other flavors thrown in. I know. I KNOW. But it was FUCKING INCREDIBLE.

Dessert cannoli. Ten of each, please.

Justin's sister Amanda declared these were her favorite dessert: a poppyseed overload! Let's just hope she didn't have a drug screening the next day.

Grasshopper and key limes cheesecakes.

These were MY favorites. Oh God, I wish I was eatin' one right NOW...

Trending: bread as art.

I just can't leave without a photo of the adorable escargot.

Of note but not pictured: the Pirogi Palace, where we must've bought five dozen pirogies with various innards; a shop which exclusively sold apple-smoked things; and a shop specializing in all foods Irish, manned by the cutest fuckin' Irish boy I've ever seen (Kit, you woulda died).

Are you hungry yet?
