Quite accidentally, trailing after various Silmarillion art thingies, I stumbled upon the site of
Mendo Kazuki. She has some yummy portraits of some of Silmarillion's elves done in somewhat RG Veda'ish style, makes it double yummy for me, but what caught my eye, was a gallery named 'Nibelung'. I can't read what it says on the page, but things look like the artist illustrated either an original epic or librettos to Wagnerian operas.
And it looks to me like artist's perception of the legend was a leeeeeeetle bit tainted by the certain specimen of pop-culture...

Kinda makes me to mourn over me lost writing abilities, too. Bummer.
