7. Attempt to write fanfiction

I am currently a member of ths_just_in, and am trying my hand at writing fanfiction. Right now, I'm just doing small stories and bits, but I'll cross this off once I actually finish my "chapter."

13. Cosplay at an anime convention

I went to Animazement this Memorial Day weekend and dressed up as the training video girl from "Battle Royale." It was really exciting, especially since people recognized me and took pictures, which was very awesome. ^_^ I do not have pictures just yet (they're all on my mom's camera, as I was silly and didn't take my own), but they will be posted as soon as I get them.

22. Buy at least one pretty book a year

I got two, actually, from a thrift store in Greenville. $1.50 for both of them, too, so I was totally excited. Pictures and further descriptions are below the list.

33. Buy a piece of furniture

Russ and I found the ugliest chair known to man, which also happened to be super comfy and only $40. So we bought it for our apartment this coming year. Pictures of that may or may not come eventually, depending on whether we put it together any time soon.

38. Review books I read for fun in LJ

As I finished reading both "America: The Book" and "The Girl With No Shadow," it's about time to write some reviews, found after this list.

57. Finish Twilight Princess

Nothing really extra to add about this, only that this game is AWESOME. You have not lived until you have used a wiimote as a sword. ^_^

"Rehearsal: The Principles and Practice of Acting on the Stage" - Miriam A. Franklin
Copyright: 1938

Essentially a theater fundamentals textbook, complete with scenes from a few actual plays. You would not believe what perfect shape it's in, though. All of the pages are perfectly smooth, but it still smells lovely and vintage.

My favorite thing about this book and the other one I bought is the writing in both of them. They were obviously textbooks, and owned by the same girl. I just loved seeing that someone had written all over these books, which was honestly the only reason I liked them so much.

"Art and Craft of Play Production" - Barnard Hewitt
Copyright: 1940

This one had even more writing in it, as well as clearer notes. You can actually decipher a name from this one - Marie Haines.

God, I'm a nerd.

America: The Book - Jon Stewart

So I'm a Daily Show fangirl. You all already know that. So naturally, I enjoyed this book. Because it's lovely and sarcastic, and just fun to read. It's a wonderful display of satire, as well as just plain silliness. Honestly? If you like the Daily Show (or any political comedy with a liberal bias), you'll like this book. And for some reason, I've been able to find it at Waldenbooks for $5. So if you happen to come across it, that's a damn good deal. Also? Discussion questions at the end of every chapter. Basically the best thing in the whole book. ^_^

The Girl With No Shadow - Joanne Harris

Ah, this woman is my hero. Ever since seeing her in person and hearing her read aloud a part from this book, I've wanted to read it. A lovely change of pace from Five Quarters of the Orange (although I'm very glad I read that one, in the end) this book sort of revives the symbols and the characters that I really missed from Chocolat. It's quite a bit darker than Chocolat was, but the same energy and themes are still there, and the two books really flow together very well. It's completely possible to read The Girl With No Shadow without having to reread Chocolat first. (That's what I did) Plus, Joanne Harris made me crave gourmet chocolate again. I've missed her. In summation, I am in love with this book. So someone go read it, so I can talk to someone about it. ^_^
