so, you guys have heard me bitch about my research project before. well, i finally had it set up enough that i could get started, although i was unclear on the numbers i needed and my advisor is out of town and not answering emails, i could still work on it.
i went in to the lab today, did a lot of prep work and transferred a bunch of fish around. then, i decided to eat my lunch while waiting for the water bath to heat up with the ms-222 mixture. in my lunch i packed a fortune cookie, the fortune said, "prepare for the unexpected."
...not a single surgery was successful and it turns out my project is probably not possible because the hypoxic fish are not able to handle surgery. without the hypoxic fish, my project is not possible because someone already did the same exact thing with normoxic fish. i was comparing hypoxic and normoxic fish.
i need this project to graduate. it is way too late to change it, the final paper is due to my advisor april 1st. i already wrote most of the paper, i only needed to fill in the results and discussion sections.
