good day over-all. though it would have been better if it had been a friday instead of a thursday. :o)
that springtime laziness has hit. the annual feeling when the sun is shining and the weather is mild, and all you can think about is being anywhere but indoors at your desk.

okay, I just got a marketing call asking for me, by name, as the owner of this company. I've now been offered - by letter - lines of credit from Wells Fargo, American Express corporate cards (twice!), and ESSO cards (for my fleet of business vehicles). all of them referring to me as the business owner. what freakin' mailing list am I on that all these people think I own this company?? jeez.

anyway, I'm totally riding the high from last week's Betty. mixed it due to scheduling and recording snafu's last week but Anxietymaster was a lifesaver and got me a copy of it. omfg hilarious! added a new word to the lexicon, "faux-mo". looking forward to a new one tonight.
season finale May 17!
this week I saw The Queen and Volver.
The Queen was wonderful. it was the kind of perfectly cast, directed, written, and acted, quiet sort of film that it seems only the British can pull off. one of the 2 commentary tracks was by a historian who has studied the royal family for 30 years and has written several books. it was very insightful.
Volver was wonderful. Almodovar's movies seem to strike such a chord deep inside me. Penelope Cruz is such a better actress in Spanish film. she had a scene that broke my heart in All About My Mother. I don't know if it's the language being more familiar that gives her more confidence, but she was wonderful in Volver. as was Carmen Maura! it was SO good seeing her on screen again! I first saw her in my first Almodovar film , way back in the 80's at the Bloor cinema. Law of Desire, in which she played the transsexual sister of the main character. she was fabulous! (note: this movie must also be seen for the chance to watch a 27 year old Antonio Banderas make out with another man! *swoon*) and then her star turn in Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown completely did me in.
well, I'm outta here. have to return a dvd, do a couple of errands and get some food into me before Betty starts.
