So, the
yuletide recs for 2007:
Red Pen (The History Boys)
This was my gift fic, and it's Dakin/Irwin and utterly gorgeous (and hot), and that honestly is the surest fastest way to my heart.
Inspired (Wonder Boys)
And then, because I am one lucky girl, I got Wonder Boys fic as a Yuletide treat, and it's Hannah, who is, like, one of my favouritest student-writer-character types ever, and handled beautifully here.
Abby's Hanukkah Tales! (Babysitters Club)
And then this was written for me. Which is an amazing Abby voice, and in which all the babysitters are totally, totally gay without it slipping into parody.
Yuletide writers, I'm easy, I would have been thrilled even if I hadn't been showered with this much shininess. But oh gosh I'm glad I was.
Onto fics written for others:
Jacobin Literary Society (RPF)
Marat writes slash fic from his bathtub. I have no words, only squee.
Pause(s) de Deux (Boston Legal)
Denny and Alan on the balcony, as time passes. This captures their strange not-quite-gay-lovers-but-so-very-close dynamic perfectly.
An Ideal Marriage (The Importance of Being Earnest)
Lady Bracknell, before she was Lady Bracknell. Fabulous.
Plans of Salvation (Big Love)
Barb, when Nicki came along. Really well done.
Paradigm Shift (The History Boys)
"Just think, Sir, so many references you wouldn't understand because you haven't seen Star Trek."
"To boldly go where no man has gone before."
Irwin looks puzzled, and Akthar jumps in. "That's how it starts."
"With a split infinitive?"
So, yes, awesome.
Through The Side Door (The History Boys)
So, yes, this might be my fandom of squeeful joy this year, but only because people keep writing such shiny stuff for it. This one's in script format and works wonderfully.
F Series (RPF)
One of my constant True Fandoms is British quiz show slash. QI, and Alan's cunning plan to seduce Stephen, and ohgodyes.
