As soon as the two left, Uruha fussed over Aoi even more, touching him gently to make sure that he would be okay. "Are you sure you did the right thing? You need to eat soon..." he murmured worriedly, hugging the other, just happy that he was alive. Meanwhile, Ruki had left, in shock and having absolutely no idea where he was. He had led Reita here under mind control after all. He turned to look at the vampire, his eyes sad, and scared. "Are you... okay now?" he murmured. Reita's eyes had returned to normal colour, and he didn't seem to have any urge to attack and murder Ruki. At least not right now. The small male was still trembling a little, and he took into consideration what Reita was thinking. "Reita. Akira..." he began quietly. "Don't... worry about this. It was a minor slip-up. It's over. I..." he trailed off. He wanted to say 'I forgive you'. But most of all, he wanted to run away, back home.
Aoi nodded at Uruha's question before looking over at him and responding with words. "... As far I know, I did do the right thing. And don't worry about me. I can survive for a while still without food. Even still... he'll come back... sometime in the near future,"
At Ruki's words, Reita just nodded. "I'm fine.... but you're not. I almost fuckin' killed you. Well... you won't have to worry about that anymore. I'm leaving tomorrow. I don't want to put you in any more harm like you were tonight." Reita was mentally kicking himself in the ass for staying when he should have left when Ruki found out what he was. "Maybe I shouldn't have waited around until you came back to talk to me. You would have been better off. Not put under mind control, not forced into something that should have been mine alone to deal with..." Reita couldn't take it anymore. He shut his eyes tightly as tears came from them. His mind was literally breaking down, not able to deal with everything that was going on. He could barely find words to speak anymore, and replaced them with sobs.
"What do you mean...?" Uruha murmured, his gaze tinged with panic. "He'll come back? Why would he come back? That would be suicide!" he said. So why was he afraid? Perhaps seeing Aoi tossed about so easily. "I won't let anything happen to you. I lay down my life before yours." he whispered.
Ruki gazed down at the ground, although he soon looked up. "What?" he breathed, tears welling up in his own eyes, his entire body tense. "No... no, Reita, no!" he whispered softly. "No, don't leave. Please, please don't." Ruki continued desperately, his own tears falling, and his words beginning to sound a little more choked as he began to sob. Damnit... he felt so ridiculous, so childish. But it was typical of him to get overemotional over things. "Reita, I'm begging you." he said, looking up at the other. "Don't leave me," he whispered. He was still so terrified, as if Reita would suddenly snap and attack him again. But he couldn't let him leave. Never.
"He'll come back... because he won't want that happening again. Whether or not him and Ruki stay friends, he'll come back here, wanting help that I can give him... with a price." Aoi kept Uruha close, surprised that Uruha would be willing to give his life up to save him.
Reita listened to what Ruki said. Now he didn't want him to leave? He had no choice though. There was no way he would let Ruki get pulled into something else like what happened that night. He knew Ruki would be safer if he wasn't around. "... I have no choice. I'm not putting you in even more danger. With me around, you'll always have to survive something... and I don't want to see you get hurt again." Reita reached out, pulling Ruki close to him before leaning down a bit and burying his face into Ruki's shoulder, tears still flowing from his eyes. "I care about you too much to let anything else happen. I care about you way more than you know..."
"You really think he'll risk coming back to you... for help?" Uruha murmured quietly, tilting his head to the side. "What do you mean, with a price? What sort of price?" he asked curiously, keeping his body tight to Aoi's and swaying a little bit for comfort.
Ruki was scared, and confused, upset and frightened. "Reita... no...!" he whispered desperately, not wanting the other to leave him at all. He wanted Reita to stay by him, even if he was scared. "Reita, if you care about me, you'll stay," he murmured softly, tears spilling over his face and making him tremble a little. His face pressed to Reita's chest, and he sobbed against him, wrapping his arms around him, feeling like a silly little girl. "Don't leave me, reita..." he whispered in a choked voice. They needed to get somewhere quiet, and calm to talk about this. Ruki wasn't letting the other out of his sight, however.
Now, Aoi wasn't sure whether or not Reita would come back to them, but if that was the case, Aoi would go to him. "He'll need to start getting help to control that power of his... and I'm the only one he knows that can help him. As for his price, eh... it'll just cure me of some of my hungry. A little bit at a time." Aoi smirked at this, knowing he'll get his food one way or another.
Reita didn't know what to say. While he wanted to stay by Ruki's side, he didn't want to risk Ruki's life more than he had already. "... The only reason I want to leave is to keep you safe Ruki. I don't want to see you hurt anymore because of me..." Reita could feel himself slowly giving in to Ruki's pleads to say near him and not to leave like planned. But wasn't this putting Ruki in more danger? What if Aoi and Uruha came after them again? No, Reita hoped that wouldn't happen. Reita could feel himself calming down a little bit, his comfort coming from Ruki being so close to him. "... But... if you want me to stay... I might consider it..."
Uruha lounged against Aoi and smiled, happy to see him gaining his confidence back, his body generally uninjured. "Oh Aoi, I'm glad you're okay. It scared me so much. I couldn't live without you..." the cat murmured quietly, clinging onto him and purring, nuzzling against his face affectionately.
Ruki sniffled and took Reita's hand. "Let's go back to yours." he mumbled, leading him towards where he recognized the town and back to Reita's home. He didn't want to go back to his place so soon. He sniffled along the way and held onto Reita's hand tightly as if he would suddenly run away. "Reita... I know it’s dangerous. But... you showed tonight that I can stop you." He just hoped that Reita could be stopped before he murdered Ruki. Once they arrived at Reita's house, he wiped his eyes. "Reita... please,"
Aoi's smile stayed on his face. That night wasn't a total loss on his part. Even though he lost Reita that night, he would get him back, one way or another. "I wasn't about to allow that excuse for a vampire kill me off. If he had that power under control, he wouldn't have been strong like he was." Aoi thought for a moment before speaking up again. "You know... I still owe you your reward..."
As they walked back into the city, Reita was surprised he was even seeing this place again. In his mind, the last thing he would see was the inside of that horrible place Aoi called home or whatever. Ruki had a point, he had been able to stop Reita, but what if it didn't work next time? Or Ruki got to him too late? It would be over. "That's why I need to figure out how to keep it under control... better than I had it tonight..." the last thing Reita wanted to happen was for him to go right after Ruki without thinking again. He stared at his house, wondering if he really would stay here or not. Ruki certainly wanted him to. "... If I stay here... you're putting your life at risk Ruki... you do understand that..."
Uruha nuzzled Aoi's face and smiled. "No-one beats Aoi, and that's a fact." he murmured with a playful smile, though it faded very soon. "Oh Aoi... we didn't succeed. That nulls my reward void. It's okay. Having you alive is reward enough for me. I love you." he said plainly and simply, clinging onto the other, his ears twitching and tail swaying back and forth lightly.
Ruki held both of Reita's hands in his own and looked up at the other. "We'll take a chance, right?" he murmured. "Reita, I'm scared, I'm fucking terrified, but I don't want to let you go...!" Ruki whispered softly. "I know that it’s a risk, a huge risk, but I want to take that risk. I care about you so much, Reita..." Ruki confessed, his lashes lowered. "Can we go inside and talk?"
Aoi's smile never faded as he turned to face Uruha completely. "Succeed... that we didn't do. But in the near future, I'll make sure we do." Aoi wrapped his arms around Uruha, bringing him closer. He leaned forward slightly, kissing Uruha on the lips. He slowly pulled away and spoke back up. "I love you too. I know I made the right choice in saving you."
Reita clearly knew that Ruki was afraid of him and he had reason to be. But the fact that Ruki was going to still give him a chance, was still going to stay close to him, is what really through him off. Reita didn't respond to what Ruki said, only leading the shorter male inside his house. He wasn't even aware of what time it was, but truthfully he didn't care. He wasn't getting food tonight, that was for sure, but he didn't care. Him and Ruki needed to talk and whether it took the rest of the night, or only the next half hour, they would get it done. He didn't need Ruki left in the dark completely.
Uruha purred quietly and closed his violent tinged eyes as Aoi kissed his lips, a smile lighting up his face at the other's words. "There isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank the gods that you saved me, Aoi-shii. My life is yours to do with as you please," he said, glad the ordeal of the evening was over, and that he could fuss and care for Aoi in whatever way he possibly could.
Ruki followed Reita inside and swallowed hard, sitting on the couch and holding his knees to his chest. "How often... does it happen? When you go like that?" he asked quietly. "Do you go that way when you attack and kill people?" he asked, hating the way his words sounded. They painted Reita as a murderer, but then again... that was just what he was, wasn't he? To willingly take another's life... "Rei... I don't know what to do, or say," he murmured, looking down at his hands for a moment. He wouldn't- couldn't let Reita leave him however.
Somehow, deep inside, Aoi could feel that the entire thing was not over with just yet. "Then I'm glad they dropped you into my life." Aoi's eyes averted their gaze to the window. "We've just started our fight between ourselves, Reita and his human friend. I know tonight was not the end." It didn't matter if Reita decided to leave or never see Ruki again- Aoi would get to him one day.
Reita had a hard time remembering the last time that had happened. It didn't happen every night, that was for sure. Reita shook his head. "No, I don't. I just look like I am now. What happened tonight... has only happened one other time... and I don't like to talk about it..." It linked to the fact that Reita didn't have his parents around anymore. And just thinking about it made Reita upset. "This is why I don't think it's a good idea for me to stay here anymore. I mean... right now, I actually find it hard to still consider myself a friend to you..."
"No... it doesn't seem like it will be the end. If Reita decides to leave Ruki or not, he'll come back, and we'll be ready." Uruha murmured, glancing out of the window and sighing.
Ruki nodded slowly. He assumed that the last time that it had happened, was the time that Reita had killed his family. It scared him to think how easily his own life could have come to an abrupt halt this evening. Of course, Reita's family hadn't been so lucky. "I consider you a friend to me..." he mumbled, looking down. "Even if you don't consider yourself a friend. What happened... it was a mistake. An accident. It wasn't like you did it on purpose, was it?" he reasoned, moving to sit beside the other, arms wrapping around him. "Maybe... maybe we can work on it together, you and me. We'll find a way to control you. What happened tonight was a special circumstance. That damned cat and that.. monster. It wouldn't happen all the time. I trust you." he whispered, pressing his lips to Reita's cheek lightly.
"And even if he doesn't come to us... we'll go to him. He's not getting away that easily. In the end... I do get what I want." A smirk tugged at Aoi's lips. This would almost be like a mini hunt, only much more fun.
It took Reita a minute to take everything in. After all that the both of them went through that night, including Reita almost killing Ruki, he was still willing to trust Reita? He almost didn't believe it at all. "... A mistake? It all happened because I was trying to protect you from them. And just went... out of control..." Reita didn't think just the two of them could help him control what was inside. That was asking to get Ruki even more in danger right there. "If it weren't for them... you never would have had to see that side of me at all." Something was still bugging Reita though. How exactly was Ruki able to get back to his senses? Was there something there that he didn't know? He remembered the last time it had happened; his mother had snapped him out of it right before she died. And she had loved him, while he did her. Was there a connection similar to that?
"Goodnight, prince charming," Uruha teased, kissing Aoi's lips and sloping off up the stairs of the townhouse to a large, circular bed. The feline undressed and slid under the covers, with a faint purr, confident that Aoi would be okay.
Ruki continued swallowing hard, as if fighting back tears. A muscle in his jaw twitched and he was close to getting up and fleeing. He had never considered himself gay before- he had rather ignored the dating scene entirely in favour of being a little troublemaker. But his heart ached as he looked at Reita, and he knew that his feelings for the vampire were just and true. "I should just..." he began, aiming to leave, although Reita soon stopped him with his words. His eyes widened a fraction, disbelief held in the dark brown. Ruki breathed a soft and gentle gasp as Reita's lips pressed against his own, and what could he do but respond to it? He closed his wide eyes, and leaned forwards a little himself, returning their gentle kiss without force or need. It was a moment that Ruki wished would never end, and not simply because it changed their status as friends to... what? He liked this. Liked it a lot.
Reita didn't think that Ruki would even enjoy what he was giving but he said nothing about it as he pulled away from him. Never before had he felt like doing that, but something inside told him that he certainly wanted to. He stayed silent for a moment, attempting to find something he could actually say and not feel weird about it. Another glance over at Ruki gave him something to mention. "You know... you should probably take a shower and clean yourself up. You're still covered in blood right now... all along your arm..." Reita had completely forgotten about it until now- which was odd seeing how he should have picked up on it the entire time. "I can even offer you clothing since yours seem to need some cleaning too." Now, he didn't need to say that but, it was the least he could do after putting Ruki through everything that night.
"Mm, yeah. Maybe I should." he said as he pulled back, his hand still resting on top of Reita's arm. Ruki felt a shy smile grace his lips and he shrugged boyishly, almost as if the kiss hadn't meant anything to him- that it didn't touch his heart. He supposed that it was typically male to shrug off his feelings as if they were nothing, wasn't it? Then again, he couldn't hide his smile from Reita, nor the way he still kept close to him. "I should probably put something on that, to stop infection," he murmured, rolling up his sleeve and looking at the marks where Uruha's teeth had been. "Yeah. Thanks Reita," he said, wriggling away from the other. "I'll go shower, ne? Will you leave some clothes out?" Ruki asked, grinning a little bit and hopping away up the stairs, twirling around on the landing of the top floor. He felt incredibly happy for some reason. Ruki padded into the bathroom and stripped his bloodied clothes off, and climbed under the soon to be hot spray of the shower, hissing a little bit as the water hit the bite wound. Ruki reached his arms above his head and arched his back, glad to wash away the badness of what had happened this evening. Even after everything, he was happy.
Ruki's smile hadn't gone unnoticed, and Reita had one to join it as he watched Ruki go on upstairs. He half expected Ruki is still be upset over everything that had happened, but somehow, he wasn't, and it certainly made Reita happy. It took him a moment before he got himself up from the couch and went to his room to pull out some clothes for Ruki. Since he knew where everything was put, he easily pulled out a pair of sweat pants and a long shirt he would wear whenever he felt like wearing nothing else. He debated just leaving them out in his room, but he could leave them somewhere else more convenient. Reita came to the bathroom door, and opening it ever so slightly, he was able to slip right in and leave the clothes on the edge of the sink before disappearing from the room and shutting the door behind him, a little louder than he wanted to. Now to figure out what to do in the meantime. He wasn't going out, since he felt no hunger urge at all, so he had to find something inside to do. It came to him on a whim and he headed back to his room, picking up an instrument on his way to his bed. He lay down on the bed, propping himself up with pillows. He pulled a pick from the strings and began to play, doing a melody he remembered his mother would hum to him before she left him for the night. He had just remembered it and wanted to play it.
The shower was heavenly, and the time alone gave Ruki space to think, to go over everything that had happened this evening. There had almost been four or more deaths tonight. Hell, someone out there was a danger to Reita, and to think that Ruki had thought Reita as the highest on the food chain. It made him shudder a little to think that, and although doubts plagued him, he was slowly pushing them aside. He didn't believe that Reita was making friends with him to kill him. The way that Ruki had managed to calm him down meant something, right? And that kiss, not minutes ago... well, it was something amazing. Ruki didn't consider himself gay, but he knew of his affections for the blond vampire. He soon jumped out of his thoughts as he heard the closing of a door and peered out of the shower, before shrugging. Once squeaky clean, he dried off with a large, fluffy towel, and dressed in the clothes Reita left on the sink. They were too big for him, covering his hands and feet, and exposing his shoulders a little, but he didn't mind. These clothes were comfortable. He ruffled his hair dry, the blond locks fluffed up and out everywhere, and he soon padded out of the bathroom, hearing a deep melody. With a curious look, he slowly crept to the source as if not to disturb the music. He peered into Reita's bedroom and slowly crept into the room, smiling a little. Ruki leaned against the wall and watched Reita play the instrument, calmed and gazing at the vampire with soft eyes.
During the course of playing the melody, Reita had closed his eyes, allowing his fingers and arms to just move themselves, knowing how to play this melody by heart. Somehow, it always calmed him down; sometimes it even made him cry. But it was the one thing he could remember about his mother, besides the fact that she saved him from going completely insane like Ruki had done not too long ago. Reita had taught himself how to play the melody by remembering how his mother would hum to him. And soon enough, it just stuck. Reita finished up his playing, opening his eyes, both of them falling on Ruki who was leaning against the wall not too far away. “You definitely look better now. I’m sure you must feel better too.” Reita took his bass guitar and leaned it against the wall next to the bed. A small smile came to his lips as he noticed the size of his clothing on Ruki. “I knew my clothes would be big, but not that big on you. You must be smaller than you look.” Reita couldn’t help but laugh slightly, adjusting himself on the bed so he was more propped up like he wanted to be before, but had failed at.
Ruki listened to Reita and smiled softly, his gaze soft. "That was beautiful." he murmured quietly, sitting on the bed beside Reita. "It really was." the small male breathed, looking to the bass guitar. He didn't know that the vampire played bass. He supposed that he learned something new every day from him. That was all part of their friendship, wasn't it? Learning more things about each other. He smiled and leaned a little against the other. "Hn? I guess so. I'm not very tall," he said, running a hand through his hair and looking at the tips of his fingers beneath the sleeves, black nail polish poking out a little bit. "Hey, where'd you learn that melody? It was lovely," he said, smiling brightly. "Maybe you can teach me to play it, huh?"
Reita was well aware Ruki wasn't as tall as him, but the clothes made his look even smaller, as if eating him up slowly. He glanced over at his bass guitar before turning back to look at Ruki. "It's certainly nothing you'll find out there- unless you magically find my mother alive." Reita couldn't keep a smile on his face at the thought. "She's the one who would hum it to me. Eventually I taught myself how to play it. I'm sure it wouldn't take much to teach it to you if you want to know how to play it." It was then that Reita could swear that he heard his mother, humming sweetly to him. He tried his best not to cry at the faint sound of it, instantly remembering his mother and the rest of his family. Truth be told, it certainly wasn't his mother humming it- it was him the entire time, and he didn't notice- only because he always played it on his guitar, not humming it to himself- or in this case, to both himself and Ruki.
"Your mother?" Ruki repeated quietly, his lashes lowering a little as he tried to imagine a young Reita, his mother sitting on his bed and humming a soft melody to him. But... he couldn't quite picture it, couldn't imagine Reita being anything other than he was now. Then again, Ruki had to remember that Reita would have been brought up in a different time period, wouldn't he? "You've seen so much of the world already, haven't you..." he murmured, unable to imagine Reita in the era of Feudal Japan perhaps. Was he hundreds of years old? Or decades? The natural and manmade disasters he must have seen. It made Ruki feel almost inexperienced, almost too young to be in the vampire's presence. He shook off that thought as best as he could, however. "It's a nice melody. Really nice..." he said softly, trailing off into a yawn. It had been an exceptionally long day for him, from being brainwashed by a giant cat-boy, to watching his best friend almost killed, almost killed himself, and witnessing said best friend show his true vampiric side, only to end the day with confusion, doubt and a kiss. Yep, Ruki was definitely sleepy by now.
By this point, Reita couldn't remember how old he was exactly, but he had seen some disasters in his time, including the attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. To see so many lives taken at once, and so many other effected. Never again did he want to see that again. Sure, he went out and killed people to survive, but that was nothing compared to what happened then. "I've seen way more firsthand then you'll ever want to see in your life time. Especially events that have happened here in Japan." Reita glance off to the side, just staring into the dark. He was going to see much more in the coming future- he knew that was a fact. Then his gaze fell upon Ruki again. "... Unlike me, you need to get some sleep. This has been way too long a day for you. And getting a good night will really make you feel better." Reita reached over, wrapping one of his arms around Ruki, not even thinking about doing it. Sure, he didn't sleep, but didn't mean he couldn't stay there beside Ruki while he got sleep, right?
Ruki frowned a little bit and nibbled his lower lip. Part of him wanted to live life as Reita had, just to see how it had been to live life in that time period. Then again, to have such terrible memories and to witness such atrocities would be mentally scarring. He yawned again and as Reita wrapped his arm around him, he leaned back against him comfortably as if it were the most natural thing to do in the world. Ruki closed his eyes and reflected over everything that had happened today. "Yeah, yeah, mother," he teased playfully, sitting up and stretching his arms above his head. "Where shall I sleep? I guess the other rooms you have are just for show, right?" he said, wondering just how much of Reita's home was truly for show. It seemed there was still so much more that he needed to discover about the vampire. He had witnessed the worst of him today, hadn't he? Ruki didn't think anything would shock him now.
Believe it or not, most of his house was just for show. But that's because he had no reason to use it. "Most of them are... yes." Reita replied, thinking some things over. "No matter, you can sleep where ever you prefer. You can even stay in my room if you want to. How often do you think I use this room anyway?" Even though it was his room, he barely used it at all. He came in here only to get clothing and in order to get his bass guitar to play. Those were the only things Reita ever came into the room to do. So his room was just another part of the house that was there for show really. Reita brought his legs to the edge of the bed and sat up. At least his bed was more comfortable than any of the others ones in the house, even though he didn't use it. "So, it's your choice where you'd like to sleep."
"Can I stay here tonight? In this room?" Ruki asked, running a hand through his blond hair almost sheepishly. "Thanks for letting me stay over. I don't think it's a good idea leaving you on your own. Someone has gotta protect you in case that monster and his pet comes back, right?" he smiled, puffing his chest out a little bit and grinning. He laughed softly and sighed, nibbling his lower lip quite suddenly. Without a word, he leaned up and pressed his lips to Reita's cheek lightly, his lashes lowered. Slowly, his arms moved around Reita's waist, and he nuzzled against the other's throat lightly. He pressed his lips gently against Reita's, and then sighed against him. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that." he mumbled, face tinged a little red. "I mean, I thought- no, never mind, it doesn't matter. Goodnight, Rei," he said, scooting up the bed and moving the covers back. What was he thinking? What the HELL was he thinking? A little angry at himself, he plumped up the pillows, keeping his back to Reita.
"Because without you here, I wouldn't stand a chance against them if they came back." Reita joked around, knowing very well he could hold his own but played around with Ruki anyway. The sudden affect he received from Ruki actually made his own heart race with excitement, but when Ruki moved away- it what seemed anger towards himself- Reita didn't move, just staring ahead into the dark. He had never received affection before from anyone. Only the parental love that he got when his parents were still around. So this was a bit different for him, but not completely. The way Ruki was showing it though- it confused him. Did Ruki actually like him or not? The fear factor must have still been there, since it would be hard to get rid of it. Reita turned his head eventually, staring at Ruki through the dark, since he could see like it was perfectly light in the room. The idea he had would be a giant leap, but he wanted to see what would happen. He was curious it seemed. Quickly, but quietly, Reita went and lay down next to Ruki. He did nothing more than that, since he didn't want to jump to anything else. But only doing this to see what happened.
Ruki spent too much time moving the pillows, far too much time. He slid beneath the covers, and gasped softly as he turned around and saw Reita laying there beside him. He nibbled his lower lip lightly, wondering what Reita was thinking, what he was thinking at all. He curled up; head resting down on the pillows, the covers tugged up to let him snuggle down. It was a chilly evening and he appreciate the large comforter. He watched Reita, wondering what he was thinking, what he was doing. That kiss had been a mistake, hadn't it? But he had acted on impulse, his affections pouring out of his heart. Ruki hid himself away a little bit, and simply watched Reita. "I'm sorry." he mumbled finally after a few minutes, his gaze lowering.
Reita closed his eyes for a moment, as if he was thinking of something- whether it be to say or to do. He reopened them when he heard Ruki's apology, just shaking his head slightly. "What are you apologizing for?" Reita asked, reaching out with one hand in an attempt to bring Ruki out from pretty much hiding with the use of the blankets and comforter. "You only apologize if you do something wrong. That the other person doesn't like. And as far as I can see..." Reita paused momentarily, finally getting the comforter around Ruki's face away. "... You didn't do anything wrong. So don't apologize." Reita leaned in closer to Ruki, finally pulling the smaller male into his own kiss. What Reita had done earlier to Ruki- that other kiss- he had hoped it would show Ruki just how he felt. But now, it seemed that wasn't the case and he could only hope this one would instead.
Ruki still kept his gaze away from Reita this time and sighed softly, feeling an idiot. Psh, Reita probably had some dead girlfriend that he should be worried about anyway. But what about before? That kiss earlier on? He wriggled a little bit in confusion and listened to Reita, looking just slightly confused. Did that mean...? No, it couldn't be, right? Full of doubts, he soon gasped as Reita pulled him into a kiss. He melted against the vampire's body, and returned the kiss, his hands reaching up and running through the other's hair gently. His eyes closed entirely, and brushed his tongue very gentle over Reita's lips, feeling a faint smile twitch his lips. His heart seemed to soar, the rush of thoughts in his head seemingly disappearing as he focused on nothing but Reita.
This was the reaction Reita was hoping for. All those emotions he had kept bottled up for some time, they could finally let themselves be known. He had protected Ruki that night, not only because he was a friend, but also because he had loved him. And now that he knew Ruki truly did like him back, there would be nothing stopping him from showing his affection now. If only he wasn't the way he was now. He could enjoy this so much more than he was. He had to be careful, making sure not to hurt Ruki at all. If that were to happen, no good would come from it. Eventually, Reita had to pull away, but he kept his face close to Ruki's, bringing a hand up to place on the other's cheek. "... So, you really do like me. I had my doubts about it before... but not anymore." Reita let a small smile escape onto his lips before he gave Ruki another small kiss. He never believed he would fall for a human- or anyone for that matter- but it seemed that life liked to take sharp corners and bring you somewhere you would least expect to be.
As they finally broke apart, Ruki felt a strong heat in his face, his lips tingling from the kiss. "Yeah... Yeah, I do. I couldn't really figure out my feelings, only... express them. I thought you didn't feel the same way, you're so... so..." Ruki said, a little bit flustered as he spoke. "You're so calm and collected... I never thought for a second but-" he broke off and pressed his lips gently to Reita's again, an arm resting over the vampire's waist. As he pulled back, he let their foreheads rest together, and laughed softly. "It's been a hell of a day." he murmured. "I guess now it gives you all the more reason to stay, right? But..." he paused and swallowed hard. "Reita, what are we now? What does this mean?"
The way Reita reacted to things was because of how he had taught himself to act towards them, since he had been alone most of his life to begin with. But this was new, and Reita even surprised himself how he could stay so calm about something as important as this. "... I've learned to let things go as they should, so I don't get flustered over something that's going to happen eventually." That was Reita could think up. Soon, Reita's arms were around Ruki as he thought about Ruki's question, attempting to find an answer for it. Eventually, he came up with only one answer to it. "That all depends... what do you think it makes us? What do you think would be the right word to call us?" Reita smiled slightly, wondering what Ruki's answer would be.
"Mm..." Ruki nodded slowly, reaching up and trailing his fingertips over the other's face lightly, trailing over his cheeks and his mouth, across his jaw line and up over to brush his hair away from his forehead. "I don't know what we should call us. Boyfriends sounds pretty fuckin' gay." he said, shaking his head a little bit and smiling faintly. "How about... uh..." he trailed off, brow furrowing a little in thought. "Uh... lovers, partners... how about just Ruki and Reita? Together? If you'll have me, that is." he said, laughing slightly nervously, and running a hand through his hair. "Only if you want me, ne?"
Most of the names people had for couple that were together- since Reita had pretty much heard them all- were all weird sounding. Especially when spoken. Why even have names for something like that? Reita never understood that. But whatever; he could deal with it. "... Smash our names together and you get..." Reita paused, thinking to himself briefly. "Um... something along the lines of... uh... Reituki, or something like that." What kind of name was that anyway? Reita laughed slightly, finding that name pretty funny sounding. It was an idea pulled out of midair- or name anyway- but he just had to think of something. Reita knew the answer to Ruki's last question; he had known for some time now. "... If I want you? What kind of question is that?" Reita smiled before answering."... Ruki... I want you more than anything else in this world..." Now that was coming straight from the heart- all pure and all truthful.
"Heh... Reituki. That's cute." he smiled faintly. "Yeah, we'll be Reituki then." Ruki nodded. He listened to Reita, and his gaze softened, lashes lowering. "You really mean it?" he murmured softly. Ruki sniffed a little and hugged Reita tightly, pressing close to him, face buried against his chest. "Thank you so much." he murmured. "No-one has ever wanted me before. Not as a friend, and definitely not as anything more." he whispered, fighting back tears. "I-I'm gonna go to sleep now. Thank you..." Ruki murmured, hiding against Reita and closing his eyes completely. He settled down, a smile on his face, blond fluffy hair over his cheek and forehead. "Long day..." he said finally. Too exhausted from the long day and range of emotions that he'd felt, Ruki soon drifted off into a deep sleep.
Reita had been aware that no one really seemed to pay attention to Ruki at school- sometimes he began to wonder if he was the only one- so to Ruki, this must have been an amazing feeling. Having someone close to him that would take care of him, be friends with him, to have someone who loved him. Reita had felt the feeling before, but eventually it became something he lived with. But now, it looked like that would change. Reita kept his arms around Ruki, a smile still on his face as he kissed the top of Ruki's head. Ruki certainly deserved the sleep, with everything that had gone on. Reita closed his eyes- only to rest, not to sleep- and found himself humming his mother's tune again. By this point, Reita didn't care what the future held, as long as they were still together in it- and though he knew he would outlast Ruki by hundreds of years, he knew that the love would still be there- no matter what.
