I heard he gave her his name today.
Afterall, I heard about it just the day before
and almost fell over in astonishment.
Yea, the whole town talks, but they forgot to mention
that a certain cowboy had finally been roped
and, that, to me, would mean I didn't win.
They said he slipped that ring on her finger, and looked her square in the eyes
& he promised he'd never leave.
But, that's funny, cause he sure left me.
Out in that overgrown country side all trimmed in lace
he made a marriage with a woman
and he made me a little jealous.
Not because I wanted him. Not because I wanted him to want me. Not because I wanted him to come back someday. But because I wanted him to not find happiness before I did. And that just isn't good of me.
So he sleeps, wakes, talks with a woman with whom he belongs,
and just last year I had got done cursing him.
And just last year we danced in the yard.
But just today he is a married man.
