Well, I have just finished going through my childhood.
Damn, there was a lot of it.
You can tell that my sense of organization has evolved, however:
K-6th: One giant jumbled mass of paper and glue, signifying all the important paste and macaroni work that one creates in a childhood.
7th: The discovery of folders.
8th: The discovery of labels. Making the folders more efficient, however, this discovery sadly did not coincide with the discovery of taste. Every. Thing. Is. Labeled.
9th: Back to the giant jumbled mass. Only this time it's Algebra and History.
10th: Apparentally a micro-black hole opened up and swallowed this year.
11th-12th: The pile system is established. Everything is organized into piles based on the three esses. Subject, semester, and shame. Subject is obvious, as is semester... the shame needs to be explained. Shame is simply if I felt proud or not of my work. The lower in the pile, the worse I did. Man. So many B's... tsk, tsk...
Hmm... it was an interesting journey. It brings to mind a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson:
"Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you"
I'm not sure how this fits in, but I'm sure that you can do what I did about it. Namely, wearing what you hope is a sage expression and nodded slightly whilst saying, "I see".
