I'd love to have some more Torn World icons to use - something for our 'last week' posts, our character spotlights, maybe something for WIPs?
In On Rails, there was a pretty good earthquake in Affamarg on 1520.10.26 - I'd love to know where other characters were and what they were doing! (It was early evening, a strong but short rattle with no noted aftershock.)
It's definitely winter here now, so I'd like something cozy.

What happens to old fashion colors meandered into a metafiction article about Lending Shops and Guild Wardrobes, also partly inspired by Lorna's character sheet for Olarali.
With the exception of ceremonial garb like a wedding dress, the idea of making an elaborate outfit for a single use is wasteful and frowned upon, so the Empire doesn't have a stigma against second-hand or borrowed clothing. Lending shops and guild wardrobes are particularly common for very fancy dresses that are impractical to own. This allows people to wear clothing they might not otherwise be able to afford, and to wear different dresses to different functions.
That gives me another idea: calendar quilts. Each of the ten rectangles would be made from fabric taken from a garment suitable for that month. They could have different colors, or a fashion color with lighter and darker shades. It would be a good way to reuse fabric from clothes that were torn or stained, not good to wear anymore but too good for the ragbag.
I'll bet the Southerners have rag rugs, though. Those are charming.

So, Dini and Lalya are getting married. Dini is a female role actor, dressing in women's clothing in his work--and in the new play, he will be playing the romantic lead. Lalya, in contrast, works in the licensing office, and will be re-licensed as a woman before the wedding (this does not involve any body-changing magic or surgery--he may not even shave off his--soon her--beard
