After being harassed by hornets for the past two days, today was a breath of fresh air, so to speak. After David sprayed the Raid Wasp and Hornet killer around the top rim of the porch, I haven't seen any hovering around. If I could get a ladder tall enough to reach to the port window of the attic, I'd spray that down as that's where the majority seem to be nesting. The hornets that hang around up there fly down and like to hover around the side door and in the ivy on the trellis that blocks the underside of the house. I have been surprised by one flying out while turning on the garden hose on more than one occasion. -.-;
As a result of no hornets trying to be "friendly" with me, I was able to finally get out and finish mowing the lawn, including the coulee in front of the house. I was able to do half of the back yard before sunset yesterday however with the forecast calling for rain this weekend, I felt I had to complete it before it turns into even more of a jungle. The hurricanes left very little time for us to mow as we have an electric mower and we can't mow while the ground is wet.
David fell off the ladder on Wednesday while trying to unscrew the plywood from the living room window. He landed in the bushes however that caused him to twist his left ankle as well as injure his left knee again. He put on his knee brace and chopped down the bush that was growing around the air conditioner.
So a short list of my completed objectives for the day:
- lawn completely mowed
- most weeds chopped down
- coulee finally mowed
- played with Cheyenne (ran around outside, played ball, played tug with her star rope, played tug with her squeaky fox, practiced simple commands: sit, stay, come, "lick for play", and "no nibble")
- Washed bath mats and various toys (yes, it's less time consuming that scrubbing them in the sink)
- Cleaned up the kids' room
- Swept the bathroom
- Washed the wok (need to do it again, David felt Curry was today's theme)
- Ran a load in the dishwasher
And finally, a list of things I still need to complete before bedtime:
- Unload/reload dishwasher
- Run a few more loads of laundry (dryer was broke for over a month in a humid environment, you do the math lol)
- Pick up the living room now that the kids are in bed
- Wipe down table/chairs
- Clean the cat box
- Mop bathroom floor
- Brush off mower and put it away (have to store it inside our closet, shed's roof is gone)
And finally, relax on our bed, play Civilization Revolution of our PS3, watch TV, and/or do a little Sudoku.
