Chloe walked over to the bondfire. She was happy she'd warn a hoodie to the game because it was kind of chilly and she'd headed right over here from that. The JV team wasn't bad from what she knew and cared about football. Normally, she only paid attention to the varsity players and that was due, in large part, to the Thornes playing and her trying to show her support. She wouldn't have even gone tonight if it weren't for the fact that the other Roses and Thornes were going to be there.
She headed over to the table and grabbed some punch, looking around. People where she'd grown up would never believe a place like this existed. She, herself, had had a hard time dealing with it at first, but over the last four years, they'd all kind of become her friends. And even though she probably wouldn't stay in touch with any of them, she wouldn't say the entire process had been a bad one.
Nat headed into the bonfire, glancing around. There were a few people already there, and though she knew more people were coming, the lack of guests was a little disappointing.
She glanced towards the snack table, spotting her Big. She hadn't talked to Chlo in a couple of days, so she headed over. "Hey Chlo." She smiled.
At the sound of her name, Chloe turned around. She smiled a little as Natalie approached. They hadn't spoken much in the past month, but she was mostly to blame. SAT prep, dance and preparing a solo for her Julliard auditions were kicking her ass lately.
But from what she'd read and saw, Nat hadn't really had much time herself. Chloe wasn't a fan of drama, especially Roses drama, but Nat was her Little. So, she was at least interested enough to keep an ear on it. "Hey, yourself. How's it going?" She asked, fixing Nat with a look.
Oh yeah, that. Hopefully, it would start to calm down in a little while, but at this point she was trying not to worry about it. Everything was going good. Everything that mattered, anyway. "Pretty good, actually. What about you?" She didn't mind not having seen Chlo, even as close as they were. But it was probably for the best that she hadn't been around for her to dump her own screwed up emotional baggage on. Now that everything was getting better, it was a better time to talk.
"It's been busy. Between college, all the Rose stuff this month, and midterms, I've been swamped, but I'm glad your life has settled down. You're not usually involved in...drama. So, that's all settled now, right?" Chloe was the head of the family, and while she took that job seriously, she didn't let it go to her head like Tori.
"It...mostly." There was still a rift there, between her and Quinn, but the drama from the party had otherwise blown over, mostly and she was working on resolving things with Puck. So in general, everything was cool. "Mostly. Everything's cool."
Chloe nodded and took a long sip from her cup. "That's good to hear. And how is Santana adjusting to having a Little." She wasn't nearly as close to Santana, but she liked the younger girl a lot. She was determined and had drive. Those were two things that Chloe could respect, but as far as Brittany was concerned, Chloe had yet to see the appeal. Not that she needed too. She'd be out of here in a few months.
"You know Santana likes to be in charge." Nat smirked a little, reaching over to grab herself a cup of punch. "But she's doing pretty well. I'm glad she's Brit's Big, though. The girl needs someone like Santana to have her back."
Chuckling, Chloe nodded. "That sounds like Santana. I don't really understand why she picked Brittany, but it wasn't my call. I'm almost sad that I won't be around to see who Brittany picks. But only almost." Truthfully, she was ready to be out of high school. She was close and yet still so far. "Oh tell your mother that I appreciate her letter of recommendation to Julliard. I'm sure it will get me in on early acceptance."
Nat didn't mention how surprised she is that her Mom sobered up long enough to write a coherent, decent letter of recommendation. "I will. Or I'll tell Nate to, he talks to her more than me." Truthfully, the only member of her family that Nat talked to was her brother. "But the Julliard thing. It's going well?"
Chloe nodded. "I still have to do auditions, but I think having her recommendation will definitely help me." She worked her ass off and dance meant everything to her, but she'd learned, since coming to school, that there was nothing wrong with using networking and taking help where she could get it.
Before going to AWM, she'd have scoffed and been ready to fight anyone she thought was trying to treat her like a charity case, but she'd grown up a lot in four years.
"I don't think you need the recommendation, personally. You're gonna do great." She took a sip of her drink, glancing around. "So when's your audition?"
"Its the first week of November. I need to make a trip into Stamford. I need new pointe shoes," she said with a sigh. Her dad was sending her the money, but she felt bad because her campus job hadn't afforded her enough. "How has your dancing been coming along?"
"Pretty good. Spent some time in the studio practicing with Rachel last week, actually." Nat said. That day wasn't such a sore spot anymore, now that she wasn't avoiding Puck like the plague. Of course, that didn't mean she wanted to talk about that part of the practice anyway.
Tina glanced over at Mike as they got closer to the bonfire. "You excited?" She asked. She was excited. She really liked fires and she was still excited from watching the football game. Mike had been their to talk her through all of the rules and his enthusiasm for the game coupled with everyone's enthusiasm in general, made it hard not to be excited. Their team winning certainly helped too.
