I wanted to update earlier, but I forgot what I was going to say.
The weekend was great. I met people, I hung out with people, I danced, I had fun. ::waves to rillaspins and hightekvagabond::
nixxfey, zodidj says that I left clothes at your place again. Is he lying or did I really leave stuff there?
zurizip, you're a lucky bastard, you know this, right? Sorry I interrupted you last night.
kyrillsue is an awesome person to travel with. I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to do so before she moves.
My violin lessons are getting better. Now I've got two main things to work with Lil Maggie on, so it doesn't seem as though the lessons are dragging along. We've actually been interrupted by my phone alarm for my last two. Thank you, Hall and Ottman! If we keep getting interrupted, I may have to bump her to an hour and a half lesson, because I find myself wanting to say and do more, and I'm not able to. Either that, or have a day of lessons at my apartment where her brothers can't get to us or something like that. (yay for ideas that pop up as I'm typing!) I'll save the day-long one for a time when I have A) a sholder rest that's not broken that will fit my violin, B) proper tape and not masking tape that mark the fingerings on the neck of the violin, and C) when she gets a bit better so she won't be frustrated as easily with a day-long lesson-type thing. ^_^ My first bare-beginner student. I really think it helps to learn the theory as you're learning the technique. That way you can see how all the theory fits into the music. Also, takadimi actually does work. O.O It *amazed* me when it clicked for her, but she hates numbers anyways. I'll get her back into counting before too long, though, because once she starts in weird time signatures, she'll thank me for it. I really, really need to get a shoulder rest for her, though, because I won't let her play it normally without it. It'll hurt her too much. I should know. I played without a shoulder rest forever, especially when I switched to viola.
Well, I'm going to stop here because I have to go do a bit of stuff before I go home. I need a shower...home and shower...that sounds nice. Then I get to be surprised by a new computer when I get to work tomorrow. ^_^ Tomorrow will be spent moving everything on my desk around. That sounds nice. I'll have nothing else to do tomorrow anyways, even though the season is picking up rather nicely. Next week I'll have more to do. At least I'm not spending my days reading lj and webcomics, though. Just squeezing lj in. ;)
