Dreaming with opium pipe in hand

"Meant-to-Be Dreams"
April 4, 2007

Induced by opium
It was only a pipe dream
Set up for failure
Ventured out in spite of knowing
The risk of falling
Ended up imprinting
The traces of my body
Onto the ground;
I fell down
Thinking I could rely on this fantasy
But soon I learned
One can never count on anything--fantastical
Not even a dream, meant-to-be
I don't give much weight to pipe dreaming, anymore
Because it hurts for me to fall
A double pain
Finding out it's all in vain
But then again that's your call

Opium has caused many a fool to fall
To wake up after hitting rock bottom
On Reality's floor
Discovering that their dreams
Are only meant-to-be dreams
Fantasies that only reveal themselves
In the nocturnal mind's playground
Never meant-to-be given a pass to the conscious world
But instead given over to the lost and truly never found

Now that the opium is depleted
I have forgotten how to dream
Maybe it is more beneficial to me, living this way
Proven not to disappoint myself anymore
The pipe is gone now
