Of Lakeside Walks and Lovely Memories...

We are back from the Lake District.

We are in withdrawal from the Lake District.

Paid up for a couple of extra nights, because we just couldn't bear the thought of coming back. I would, very literally, pitch up a tent  and live there permanently. No TV, no internet...no problem!

We're back there on Monday 5th for six nights in the caravan with the rentals, Sis and Bruv, and it's going to be fabulous. We also have a new-found favourite activity: walking. Specifically, walking along the lakeside of Ullswater to a little village called Pooley Bridge. Here, we buy ice cream in waffle cones, consider the meaning of life, decide that it is indeed 42, and then walk back to the tent.

We even bought some proper walking shoes and everything! Considering that I've been to the Lakes every year for 27 years and they are the first pair I've ever owned, I find this to be shocking. But, none of that mountain walking stuff...still far too scared of heights and of falling down mountainsides for that! Not sure the old knees could handle that level of impact either.

Working it out in my head (which, of course, means that it's not altogether that reliable a number) we've walked over 10 miles this week. That's not counting the random excursions around the campsite, et cetera. I'd put it closer to 15, in fact. My knees are relatively happy about this, also. More muscle = less pain. This in turn makes me happy...and you get the picture.

We've pre-booked a holiday during gollum1971 's Easter break, and are planning to go for a long week near the middle of July.

It would appear that my needing to find employment is no longer for paying rent or bills, but rather for funding our much-loved Lakeland holidays.

In all honesty, I cannot think of a better reason to work. :D
