This afternoon is a lazy one. I've put in my days work. I've called around for quotes on skips. I've enquired about property regeneration/ renewal grants from the local council so my leaky chimney will be fixed at a maximum of a quarter of the cost (always helpful when broke). I've booked in a valuation for free loft insulation grant thingy. I've chased payment (again) from the BBC for the week's work I did a month ago and don't believe them when they tell me I'll get it tomorrow. I've walked the dog, twice, and watered my friend's greenhouse (is it bad if tomato plants - not the tomatoes, the plant - go yellow?). I've applied for two jobs, done some character work on project unforgettable and done a couple of writing exercises.
Bear's been having fun in the garden, burying all his rawhide and bringing most of the mud back in with him:
I've even baked my first pie :
I've never baked pie before and looking at the mess I'm not sure I should do it again any time soon. Which is unfortunate because this particular pie is for my friend Alan, who seems to've made it his mission to feed me as many different vegetables from his allotment as he can. In exchange I promised to bake him an apple and blackberry pie, seeing that the blackberries are all asking to be picked. But now I'm wondering if I should make sure this tastes okay first. I wouldn't want to give him something that tastes terrible, would I? And it's my first pie afterall. And I've got this cup of tea all ready to drink too ...
So, personally, I think an afternoon curled up in my snug under the stairs reading a Nora Roberts romance and eating apple and blackberry pie whilst slurping back copious amounts of tea is entirely called for.
