Typhoon came and went! My prefecture was in the path of the typhoon, and everyone said to close the windows and be ready with emergency torch and food rations... I hid in my room,
watching the typhoon news on TV (lots of damage in Kyuushuu), waiting for the storm to come.... but in the end, it didn't! Swerved down and headed for Shikoku instead. So no typhoon experience after all. (Though ironically, there was still a fairly big storm on Marine Day (Umi no Hi, Monday 16th July).) I shut myself indoors all day for nothing.
No, not for nothing - I spent the whole day playing Gyakuten Saiban!! That game is so addictive! It's like reading a manga or novel, only more interactive and hard to find a good place to stop. Now I see what I would have been doing if I had a DS or computer games in my room before.
Random thoughts of the game:
- 異議あり!Naruhodo Ryuuichi has a higher-pitched voice than Phoenix Wright. (Well, when he says, "待った!" (Wait!), it sounded higher than I expected.)
- Mitsurugi is so cool after the Donosaman case and during the boat case, when he's turning to the side with that tortured expression. Well, I guess seeing his father being shot in front of him at such a young age shaped his personality like that. I hope we see him again in later games.
- Hahahaha! It's so funny when the witness complained about them banging the tables all the time! ">Bang!< That's right, lawyer, it's noisy when you keep hitting the table... ulp..."
- It was pretty creepy when the parrot suddenly said, "Remember DS6-19501" (or whatever the case number was). That mystery case gives me the chills.
- I thought the photo of Horshie was going to turn out to be the sinking arm of somebody drowning for sure. It looked so omnious...
- Mayoi-chan! Noo! Don't go! Now we won't be able to talk to your your hot sister anymore! Ah well, I guess there will be new hot women characters to meet in the next game.
- Speaking of Chihiro, she gets pretty deus ex machina in helping you out with the cases. A lot of the times, I can work out what happened in the case, but it's a case of figuring out how to get Naruhodo (ohoho! Naruhodo~) to reach that conclusion.
PS: I wonder how much of GS reflects what really happens in courts? Since the game is set in 2016 or some year in the future like that, I guess the story writers can make up their own law system. Like deciding a case in three days. :O
If anyone can recommend any more good DS games to play in Japanese, that would be great.
Oh, and I'm playing around with making videos with the digital camera. Anyone know any good video uploading sites or anything?
