I wish I had something interesting to post other than memes. I'll try to entertain with the day-to-day, but I make no guarantees on the entertainment value of this post:
~I have finally caught a whiff of the holiday spirit. I did a chunk of my shopping, actually I'm almost done. I'd say I have another third to go. Some crafting and baking... We'll see how it all turns out. I'm rarely the "last minute" gal. Sometimes I have some odds and ends, but usually by now, I'm tying it all together. This year is an exeption. And I'm blaming the warm weather, or cold weather, or the economy, or my mental issues... Whatever works.
~I've been occupying my free time with My Sims on the DS and reading Do Cats Think? As far as the book goes, I've read two sessions worth of it and I'm half way through it. Light reading? Yes, assuredly. But fun. I admit to the depths of my soul as being a steadfast cat person and though I love dogs, cats are so much more intriguing subject matter.
The DS game is alright. Its a little cartoony, and I was hoping it would be more like an actual Sims game. Though it does have some "mini-games" like para-gliding and making leis. But the raquetball mini-game is hard, for me anyway, though I'm sure I'll eventually get the hang of it. I haven't really mastered the fishing yet either.
And I still have Drawn To Life for the DS to toy with! I'm sure that will be interesting...
I've thought too about dedicating this upcoming year to reading some of the books that have been sitting on my reading list. I don't read nearly as much as I used to (lj, myspace, ohnotheydidn't, and cat_macros do NOT count). Sometimes I wonder if this has some nasty side-effect on my intellect. But I think I'm still passably smart. Still, I'd like to be a more avid reader in the future. I mean, there was a time, in my youth when I'd devour a new book in two days (if that). And now I buy books that just sit there. Though I don't imagine that I'll crack open that Maghamadi Library any time soon. I tried and it made my brain sore. I am thinking about The Way of The Straga, though.

earthly_gnome agrees with me that Paranormal State seems staged.
~Work related xmas party tonight. Probably won't get drunk. But I will enjoy some tasty, mildly overpriced, Italian food, and an alcoholic beverage or two. And I will participate in the grab bag, where I will give someone the card I purchased specifically because it has a.) a cat on it and b.) glitter that will end up all over the recipient. Glitter is the gift that keeps on giving. :)
