I think no matter what happens this is going to be a very close and interesting campaign. I swear, after hearing Palin's acceptance speech this week if I was American and we were voting that night, I would have voted Republican. Whatever your stance on Palin, this is the first time I am actually interested in who is running in the campaign, regarding Palin and Obama, and the U.S. political system. So far, for example, I have learned that the Democratic Party used to be called the "Democratic-Republican Party" and formed against Federalist policies favouring the rich, but the two factions split over differing opinions in economic and social issues (See Here). The Republican Party reformed in 1854 in protest to slavery, and with the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 came into power (See Here). Likely I'll delve more into this as the campaign continues.

Wow, sooner or later I might actually start caring about Canadian politics. :p
