I swear, after hearing Palin's acceptance speech this week if I was American and we were voting that night, I would have voted Republican. Whatever your stance on Palin, this is the first time I am actually interested in who is running in the campaign, regarding Palin and Obama, and the U.S. political system. So far, for example, I have learned that the Democratic Party used to be called the "Democratic-Republican Party" and formed against Federalist policies favouring the rich, but the two factions split over differing opinions in economic and social issues (
See Here). The Republican Party reformed in 1854 in protest to slavery, and with the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 came into power (
See Here). Likely I'll delve more into this as the campaign continues.
