Robbery

Probably about half an hour into my shift yesterday a police officer entered the store and asked myself and a coworker if our security cameras were able to record across the street. We didn't know and directed him to our manager and assistant manager. I later found out that there had been a robbery at the Taste of Nature across the street from us, and that when the officer arrived it had occurred not ten minutes before. I found that quite scary to reflect on, not only because of the speed of which it happened and that nobody else had noticed, but that it had happened so easily and could have potentially happened to us or any other surrounding store just as efficiently. Just before it happened I was walking back from a work-related errand; thank God I didn't run into them because who knows what they were carrying? I am still aware, however, that for the most part when a robbery has occurred the perpetrators just want to get the hell out of there without much interference with that; still it is rather intimidating to think about. (To diffuse the situation at work we joked with one another "What would they want to steal from there? Organic granola bars?" Most likely it was their money.) Luckily it seems nobody was hurt, or at least I didn't hear of it.

Anyhow, the managers gave him a copy of our security tape in case anything should be found on it. I hope he'll be successful in finding something. Ironically enough for me, I did not feel uneasy walking to the subway station after my shift ended since ideally the robbers would be long gone from there.
