Howdy, all.
Basically this is a check-in to let you know I'm alive and kicking here in foggy London Town. Actually, it hasn't been foggy at all, but instead rather pleasant. Hot, even. Now that I say that, I think rain is falling lightly, but it's 1.00 a.m., so that's allowed.
My aunt Sandy, Tony and I did Paris today, and the weather really showcased the city. I remember Paris as a beautiful, enchanting city, but because it was SO FREAKING HOT it was hard to really fall head-over-heels for it. France's countryside was what really knocked me out then, but today it felt like I imagine spring might be like there.
Wow. That last sentence was really shitty.
Anyhow, we blasted around the city for about nine hours, seeing everything and doing just about nothing. I was expected to be some sort of guide (seeing as how I had about 72 hours' more experience there than the other two travelling) and translator, and while I did relatively well in getting us around town, my French was at best humbling. But neither Sandy nor Tony speak the language, so I probably looked like a resident expert (except, Tony's reminding me, when for some reason I did NOT understand a cab driver's question and he did... luckily Tony remembered that in time, or it might not have made it into this entry. Thank goodness for that!)
Anyhow, we finished our day at Sacre Coeur, and as we were taking a cab out of Montmartre, we happened to stop near a spot where we all sat, tired as anything, and rested. I have pictures of us that are three years old that immediately flooded my then-delirious brain: Christine making faces. Kara wilting. Madame Brewer laughing. Amanda's hair well past her shoulders. It was a lovely memory.
One more day in London, then it's off to the countryside. I hope you're all well.
