Body: Professor Jo Boobs & Torchys Traveling Charm School
ATLANTA, GA
Sept 23rd ,24th and 25th Event (4 events in 1!)

My name is Eva Wynne-Warren, better known as Torchy Taboo. Ive been performing, teaching and producing shows, primarily Burlesque, neo-circus and performance art in Atlanta, NYC and across the country since I could vote! And in the last 10 years, I have worked tirelessly with the Burlesque Revival. Not only have I been taking high billing at numerous national events and headlining shows across the country, I'm honored to be Miss Exotic World's 1st runner up this year!

I am co-hosting with Jo Boobs of NYC, a weekend long event called
Professor Jo Boobs & Torchys Traveling Charm School
at the Eyedrum on Friday, Sept. 23, Dance 411 and The Earl on Sept 24th and 25th that will include several different opportunities to not only be entertained by but interact with some of the best Burlesque talent in the country. This weekend is designed to give Atlantans an insiders look at what the national Burlesque Revival is and why Burlesquers do what they do.

The Art of Burlesque, Friday night at Eyedrum starts with the 2-D focus of the event, a series of beautiful photographs of Burlesque performers of the current revival, by local Burlesque chronicler Justin Houser and performer, teacher and historian of Burlesque Jo Weldon from NYC.
This multi-media event will also include presentations of Jo Boobs Weldon and Torchy, myself in our lively and entertaining lectures *wink* on the history of Burlesque, gender roles in Burlesque and what it's like being both in front of and behind the camera, accompanied by demonstrations by Jo, myself and several highly accomplished southern performers (Panty Raid and Miss Monique Honeybush of Nashville, members of the Doll Squad, Big City Burlesque and Torchys brand new Steam Heat Dancers), the purpose being not only to entertain, but to enlighten the audience on the idea of Burlesque as an art form.
Also included will be works by other female artists, such as a display of fashions demonstrating the contrast between the psychological levity of latex and the extraordinary weight of bridal wear.
Musical guest include members of the Deluxe Vaudeville Orchestra.
The Art of Burlesque is an Eyedrum sponsored event. Doors open at 8:30, show at 9:30, tickets $10.

Saturday afternoon classes at Dance 411 Sept 24th 2:00-4:00 , Burlesque Academy with Torchy and Jo Boobs Weldon whos been called --one of the lights of the burlesque revival and a sexy librarian of kink, teaching striptease classes....--

Classes will include an introduction to creating a stage persona, choosing theme, costume and music and classic Burlesque movements like the strut and dip, the glove peel, the reveal and tassel twirling. While all performers are welcome, this class is designed with the fun-loving stage virgin in mind, a sort of insiders Burlesque appreciation 101 work-shop. $14 (discount if you attended the Eyedrum event) Limited space and it's filling up fast! Contact Torchy (me) for details and to reserve your place!

Saturday evening brings the big show,
Torchy Taboos Steam Heat Dancers present 'The Princess and the PBR' Sponsored by PBR and The piercing Experience
at the Earl in East Atlanta, doors at 9:00, show at 10:00, tickets $14 (discount if you attended either the Eyedrum event or class).
The Sophisticats and Sophistikittens come from New Orleans (house band 3 years running forworld famous Burlesque convention TeaseOrama)with their super-sassy and high energy 60s style Vegas-grind sound to back an amazing array of national talent. The debut of Torchys latest bevy of Burlesque beauties, The Steam Heat Dancers and Atlantas own Doll Squad and myself, will host Jo Boobs of NYC and Panty Raid of Nashville TN. With a strut and sway we'll be celebrating the highs and lows of Southern Charm. This promises to be the best Burlesque show Atlanta has seen yet! Sponsored by PBR and The piercing Experience

Sunday afternoon we offer Burlesque Brunch at the Earl for the ladies from 1:00 to 4:00. (demonstrations, but no performances). Its a Burly-Q tradition. When bringing in performers from other cities, we like to offer the public an opportunity to get to know our guests a little better. And this time its a photo party! We want to open this photo shoot up to the (female) fans and students by offering them to come and get dressed up by our hair and make-up experts, try on some of our fancy (and very adjustable!) costumes and step up on the stage and be photographed in THE most tasteful retro pin-up style, by our local photo king, Elvis and by the events star, Jo Boobs herself. Special feature demonstrations from Big City Burlesques own make-up genius, Kenton. (no performances). By donation.

Jo and I have put a lot of passion into the phenomenon of the Neo-Burlesque Revival as post modern feminism with a light-hearted approach, a glorified Girls Night Out. And this time the boys are invited too (we think they can find something to interest them *wink, wink*).
