A Night Out at the Pub

Jan 05, 2011 16:02

Surprisingly, Jack had insisted on a specific pub they rent out, and Ianto had stepped back and let him do so. Jack knew the owner, had been going there for years (and years and years), and so he could get the place cheap and quickly and still have the quality service that they wanted. And for an occasion like this one, quality was a must ( Read more... )

Ianto had the menu laid out in front of him on the table, flipping back and forth through the appetizers and actual dinners that the pub offered for food, should anyone be hungry. Of course, they were more than welcome to order something, all of the orders going to Jack's personal tab, knowing that half the people invited wouldn't have the right kind of currency anyway. He's excited to meet all the people that were coming, to greet them and have them all meet each other over good food and drinks, but he'd be lying if he wasn't a little apprehensive about the whole thing as well. He wants everyone to get along and enjoy themselves, after all, and social situations had always been more than a little stressful for him. He finds himself wondering if maybe he should order himself a drink as well, just to be able to loosen up a little.

[ooc; I started this tag in prose, but if you'd rather continue in [action], just comment that way and I'll continue that way :D Basically, I WANT YOUR COMMENTS AND I WILL DO WHATEVER I CAN TO ACCOMODATE FOR

McCoy ran expert eyes over Ianto as he approached, taking in the other man's relative signs of health with much approval. He didn't look 100%, but he looked a lot closer to, say, 80% than he had not so long ago.

"Hosting's always stressful, huh," he said dryly as he touched Ianto's shoulder briefly.

Ianto looked up at the other man, smiling gently. "To put it mildly, yes, it is," he said, nodding. It was true, he wasn't quite 100% yet, but 80% was good enough for him, definitely good enough to host a party, considering 80% was usually what he was operating at, with a job like Torchwood and all.

He motioned to the seat next to him at the table, indicating for McCoy to sit down. "How've you been since I saw you last, then, doctor?" he asked, with a smile. It had been since Christmas, and Ianto hadn't had his follow up appointment with McCoy yet, so. This'd been the first time they'd seen each other since the cure, as it was.

"Especially when you're dealing with a range of... interesting personalities, I bet," McCoy grinned, dropping into the proffered seat. "Me? Oh, little of this, little of that. Had some interesting away missions but it's probably all classified or some such bullshit. How about you?"

"Oh, well. You know. Digging out the Hub with Gwen and Jack, mostly. It's a lot of manual labor, actually sifting through all of it. We're making some ground, though, which is promising," he said, knowing that that wasn't exactly what the doctor was asking of him, that he'd probably be more interested in his health than in how much dirt and rubble there was to go through in the wreckage of the Hub.

Ah, good, so Ianto was feeling well enough for some physical exercise, at least. That had to be a good sign. "Yeah, I imagine you can't exactly hire a bunch of labourers," McCoy said wryly. "How much do you think there's left to go?"

Ianto shrugged. Honestly, he had no idea. "A ways," he said, honestly. "I mean, the place blew up from the inside out. And we have to go through all of it with a fine-toothed comb before we can bring anyone else into the mixture. Can't have them finding alien artifacts, bringing them home with them and then creating havoc, now can we?"
