Why you should read it: basingstoke is one of my favourite authors in this fandom, particularly because of her startling originality, both in content and in style. Her writing always reads in this indescribably way - it's almost otherworldly. Thus, it's perfect for Torchwood. I love this particular fic for a myriad of reasons - written before series two, it envisions Tosh taking over Torchwood, and her characterization is the best I've ever read. The relationship between Tosh and Ianto is entirely believably and ever so sweet, and Jack is completely himself, in and out of Torchwood. The plot woven in adds to the story and the characters, and the sex is understated by breathtaking.
