This story covers that transformation, explains it, and shows us an Owen we've never met. His views of Torchwood, Jack, Tosh, and Suzie are filtered through his pain and lack of understanding. The way he begins to understand, and the relationship between him and Jack is one of the strengths of the story, and gives it a strong ending.
