Summary: Jack is aware of the fact that the hunger itself only happens in his head; it's all a question of chemistry.
There was a short lived but unexpectedly profound challenge called the
tw_lucky_7 in which various Torchwood characters were prompted with one or more of the seven deadly sins.
This story hit me as a fresh, interesting and different take on the aftermath of the Year That Never Was. Jack Harkness' body might reset to its glorious origins but the mind is not so willing to forget. I really liked this story because it took such a unique take on Jack manifesting mental trauma. I also liked the very understated way Ianto, and the rest of the team react. Torchwood isn't about the things said openly, and the most important acknowledgments often happen in small gestures and silence. I also felt the author had a good grasp of Jack's voice in this story, something about the defiance and the deception seemed very true to his character to me.
