Summary: She’s born into a family that’s half what it used to be but still struggling to carry on, like a lightning-split tree.
Why you should read it: Those ubiquitous 51st century people that the Doctor keeps running into - it can’t always be coincidence. I absolutely love the way this story works within canon, building this amazing and rich new background for these characters. Using only the tiniest snippets that canon gives of Jack’s past,
iamshadow creates a full, three-dimensional version of River Song and an intriguing view of this 51st century life from which she comes. From her older brother cultivating and nurturing her adventurous spirit, curiosity, and newfound love for archeology to her very first meeting with the Doctor, this story is wonderful and sad and almost definitely new personal canon.
