Why you should read it: This is a really nice bit of character work for Suzie and Jack. Suzie's voice is spot on and it's easy to visualize her sitting on the Plass, leaning casually, talking to... Jack, but not the Jack she's expecting. The interaction between them as Jack feels his way carefully and Suzie tries to figure out what Jack is up to is enlightening, hinting at the changes we'll see in Jack from who he is now to the man Suzie knows. I hadn't realized we'd been missing this particular scene from Boomtown, but now it seems obvious that we were.
