Brief history of your character (100-200 words):

He started working for Torchwood after the death of his fiancée Katie when Jack persuaded him that it would be the one place where he would be able to make a difference.

A brief fling with co-worker Gwen Cooper ended suddenly after he became involved with the pilot of a plane caught by the rift in 1953 and deposited in present day Cardiff along with her passengers. Diane flew her plane back into the rift, refusing to take him with her. Going undercover on an investigation soon after, he ended up in a fight cage with a Weevil and though rescued just in time, made it quite clear to Jack that it wasn't what he wanted.

Responsible for opening the rift in order to get Jack and Toshiko back from 1941 and was then sacked by Jack during an argument. When he returned he found Rhys had been killed and then shot Jack so they could re-open the rift yet again- this time releasing Abaddon. When Jack finally came back to life he forgave him and they seemed to settle back into their old relationship.

His relationship with Toshiko finally took a more positive turn.

Brief synopsis of your character's personality (100-300 words):

Confident, sometimes to the point of arrogance. Despite his insistence that he is only interested in one night stands and has a somewhat cavalier attitude to women, it's interesting to note that whenever a woman is in danger his automatic response seems to be to protect them. His brusk attitude could be an attempt to hide reactions that he thinks would put him at a disadvantage or make him appear overly emotional . He hates mysteries and will not give up until he's found the answer.

He has no problem making decisions and carrying them out, but does defer to Jack as the boss and will carry out his orders even when he doesn't agree with them.

Owen Harper sprinted across the hub, trying to get his coat on and keep hold of his medical bag at the same time, he could hear the others as they moved to follow him.

Jack should never have let her go undercover at the Pharm, he thought, annoyed that his warnings had fallen on deaf ears. All very well for him to witter on about trusting her and the world ending, if they didn't get there in time, the world would go on just fine, but Martha's chances of continuing in it were slim at best- assuming that she was still alive!

Owen reached the back of the Armoury, shoving the door with his elbow, still struggling to get his coat on, he pushed his way through and into the garage beyond, he heard the door bang shut behind him, only then did he look up.

"What the...." he said, looking up at a dilapidated doorway. Turning warily away from it, at the same time reaching for his gun, but it wasn't there! Neither was the door he had just pushed his way through. In its place was a vast expanse of snow covered... something.

Owen suddenly shivered, whether it was from the cold, or the shock of what he was seeing, was debatable. Either way, it was time he found somewhere safer than this, while he tried to work out what the hell had happened.

Backing slowly towards the door, he watched nervously for anyone (or anything) that might appear. It had to be something to do with the rift....

A loud, metallic squeaking sound, made him look up quickly. An old dilapidated sign, was swinging, drunkenly, from the remains of what must, once, have been heavy duty metal hooks. Squinting towards it, he could just make out what looked like the word hotel.

"If this turns out to be bloody cannibals again...." he mumbled to himself, as he pushed open the door and went inside.

Owen stopped dead, staring at the luxury that surrounded him. "Bloody hell!" he murmured, then moved slowly away from the door, cautiously keeping as close as he could to the wall and watching for any movement or sounds of someone approaching. He made his way to a large wooden desk that he presumed was reception. Wherever this place was, it looked like it wouldn't be too unpleasant a place to wait to be rescued from.

Leaning against the desk, he glanced around, something nudged again his hand, he glanced down at the desk, a key lay there. Pulling his hand away as if he had been stung, Owen stared, where the hell had that come from? Surprise rapidly gave way to annoyance, pushing himself up he leaned over the reception desk, expecting to see someone crouched down behind it. Nothing and no one!

There was a card under the key, he tipped it, sending the key sliding clear of the card. His name was written across the top, in what looked oddly like his handwriting. Puzzled, he picked up the key, his gaze still fixed on the card.

"Welcome to the Hotel California, Mr. Harper."

Owen swore loudly, the unexpected attention making him jump and drop the key back onto the desk.

The manager blinked slowly in Owen's direction, the edges of his mouth twisted slightly into what might, perhaps, have turned into a smile... eventually. "Thank you for checking in."

Owen glanced down at the card, it was now signed. "Now look here," he said, angrily looking up, but the desk was once again deserted, the manager gone.

Licking his lips nervously, he grabbed the key and leaned over to pick up his bag... it was gone. That was the final straw, he felt far too vulnerable in the huge lobby with no cover, spotting a staircase he moved towards it.
