I just need to... work some things out, here.
I don't have a job, I'm not in school. Something's gotta give, the current situation can't stay as it is. So I have to either find some menial work that's far too simple for me, or somehow enroll in a local college and continue my studies.
If I do that, my food stamp benefits (which I haven't even started receiving yet) will be cut off if I'm not working part-time - they penalize you for going to school, treating you like the money is coming from your own pocket even if it's actually coming from Pell grants and the like; basically, "if you can pay for that, why the hell can't you buy your own food?" They don't give grants and such for groceries, though...
So even if I go to school I'm still screwed. I won't be able to eat. I have lodging at dad's place, at least for now, it'd be nice if I could just commute to school from here - I still don't know how to drive, though, and I don't know if he'd be willing to chaffeur me to my classes.
I found a loophole in the PA laws that says I qualify as an in-state student if I moved away and came back within 5 years for educational/job purposes - I could probably swing that. So I won't have to worry about out-of-state tuition fees.
So, here are my problems -
Option 1 - School.
-Transportation
-Food
-Have to work to get benefits; grades will suffer.
-If I go part-time it'll take a lot longer than it should to get a degree; I'm already a year behind.
Option 2 - Job.
-Soft job market.
-No experience.
-Not sure if past employer will give me a good recomendation or not.
-Applied at several places already, haven't heard back from any of them.
