Another fun weekend made even better by the addition of
carrieb to the mix! This time,
big_bubba was along for the ride. We had dinner and talking and Erik-watching and, as reported elsewhere, turned in early because they are grown ups and I was overcome with allergies. Once I am incapable of actually seeing my company, I think it’s best to go to bed.
The giant garage sale was a blast, as always. I found some excellent bargains, including a new corduroy coat for fall, and a veggie-server-with-lid that will most definitely come into play at our TLAPD party and many parties to come. Resisted buying the not-quite-right bookshelves (observing, as
big_bubba pointed out, the ‘100% rule’ made famous by our beloved
carrieb). When I got home and really looked at the spaces I’d had in mind, I was SO glad I’d not purchased them. They would have been so poorly suited for that space, it would have driven me seventeen kinds of crazy.
In other news, I think I am as finished with the backyard as I can possibly be until next Spring. I told
helloheather that I will try to post a photo so you can contrast the current status with the days of the Leaf Taco. It’s been a long haul (literally) but I feel proud of my progress. I only wish I had more opportunity to show it off, in person, to people who know what it looked like before. My Dad may come for another visit before the holidays, and I think he’ll be able to recognize the work involved. He personally overhauled his own yard so he’s got hands-on familiarity.
Oh! And Mr. P and I finally got the new kayak out on the water. The night air was so cool, the moon was washing through the clouds, we saw herons and geese and ducks and remembered why we love where we live. The summers can really kick your ass, but the cooler days make it so worthwhile….
I hope the weather holds…we’re fast approaching our 4th annual TLAPD party and I am determined to have more outdoor pirate fun than ever!
