Went to the midnight showing of Quantum of Solace Thursday night.
I was bracing myself for a disappointment, since I skimmed some reviews that were emphasizing how the movie was all about revenge. Thankfully, it wasn't some stupid pointless killing vengeance flick. Okay, so maybe it kind of was a bit. But it was a little more than that. But I'm not going to go into analysis of anything.
I didn't walk out with the awe-factor of Casino Royale. Which, is understandable, because... well, this time I knew that Daniel Craig as Bond would be the hottest thing ever. I could have done with some more gratuitous shots of either shirtless!Bond or naked!Bond like the first movie, but... it's okay.
Aside from the lack of naked!Bond, my biggest complaint with the movie would probably be the treatment of female characters. Except Judi Dench. I mean, I expect women to be objectified in a Bond flick (hell, all movies), but seriously? There wasn't nearly enough sexy!Bond to make up for what we got. Alas, there's always the next movie.
Oh, yeah, and the plot. HAHAA. I guess that was kind of bad, but... Really, when I first heard the summary, I knew not to expect much.
Quick rundown comparison against Casino Royale
+ more action sequences
- less naked!Bond
As much as I think QoS was a good action movie, I think Casino Royale trumps it as a movie. I felt that Casino Royale was just a sexier better movie. Though, I might need to watch them both again and compare.
