Last Friday I, Tom, and Nonemorecomic went to see
The King of Kong at the IFC Theater down on west 3rd st.
This movie is AWESOME. It's a documentary "about" two men competing to have the world record in Donkey Kong, but it's actually about human nature, the scary stuff that happens when people are placed in a limited environment (if you take of your shirt, you get some plastic beads!), and how completely, ridiculously funny people are without meaning to be.
The movie is only an hour and 20 minutes long, but it's probably the best film I've seen this year. The story is compelling and the action is tight, two things not often found in documentaries.
Anyway, if you don't think it sounds cool, check out the trailer link down at the bottom of the wiki page posted above.
Next up at the IFC Theater?
