The phrase, "it's been a long day" takes on new meaning when you become an international traveler. When I traveled to Germany, heading back west always resulted in adding about nine hours to my day.
Today, though, I am flying over the international date line. My total travel time, from the gate in Harbin to the gate in Denver, will be 26 hours. But even though I will be "in the air" (counting layovers in Beijing and Seattle) for more than a day, I will still land the same day as I left. I'm adding seventeen hours to my day, as I complete a nine hour time zone change (26-9=17, for those who don't want to do the math). Interestingly, I will also be in transit for a mere nine hours, according to the clock... I board the plane here in about 45 minors, at 10:15, and land in Denver at 19:07.
Then it's a two hour drive to Cheyenne before I can stop for the day. I never had jet lag on my way to Europe, but you can bet flying to Asia messes me up a little bit!
And yes, there will be naps on the planes. :)
