Warm sunlight slowly seeps through the cream-colored curtains, washing the darkness that filled the small yet neat room. Junmyeon opens his eyes and a flash of white light enters his vision, blinding him temporarily. It takes him a few more seconds for his eyes to adjust to the sudden brightness. The beam of warmth creeps into him, and he smiles at the formation of a faint yellow glow on his skin.
He closes his eyes, and the yellow color gradually twirls into a deeper shade, turning into orange against the back of his eyelids. He feels his chest being filled with an invisible spring of happiness.
He decides to open his eyes once again, and he fixes his vision on the gap between the dancing curtains in front of him. He looks further into that space, and he sees the rays of sunlight strike the nearby tree, painting its leaves with fresh green, revealing the tiny, sparkly beads of dew on their surfaces.
Delighted by this serene view, he hums an unfamiliar tune. He himself doesn’t know where he’s getting the melody from. Perhaps he’s humming along to that faint sound of the chirping birds perched outside the window. Or perhaps he has heard this song somewhere in one of his dreams before. Or perhaps this is the unheard music that his heart has been dancing to all of his life.
“Too… Early,” a husky voice mumbles to his ears. Junmyeon’s eyes widen as an arm gently snakes its way through his waist, and a different, yet familiar kind of warmth brushes lazily against his back.
The breath that accompanied that voice sent momentary chills down his spine. And in that moment, Junmyeon could think of the color blue, flowing through his body and cleansing his soul. Perhaps it is icy blue or midnight blue, he smirks at his own indecision.
Junmyeon chuckles, earning a questioning hum from the person behind him. And he could imagine a certain tint of pink rushing through his cheeks.
“Good morning, sunshine,” he cheerfully greets the person behind him.
The other person shakes his head against the back of Junmyeon’s small neck, gently tickling his victim, making him giggle lightly.
“Mmmmm…. Sleep.”
“Wu Yifan, such a sleepyhead you are. Come on, let’s get up now,” Junmyeon tells him in a bright tone. He slides his legs to the floor and carefully pushes the blanket off of him, along with Yifan’s slightly heavy arm. However his effort to get up becomes wasted, for he finds himself suddenly being pulled back to the bed by the half-asleep taller man. And the next thing he knew, he is looking directly at Yifan’s collarbone.
Then Junmyeon sees the blue once again, inside the realm of his thoughts. And consequently, it mixes with a quiet shade of red, slowly diffusing, turning into a lovely tint of purple.
“A few more minutes, please?” Yifan begs; his lips brush against Junmyeon’s hair as he utters those words in a low, apparently sleepy voice. Junmyeon could feel his own cheeks burn. And he sees the purple bursts into red, forming swirls and fireworks, confusing as it may sound, and then slowly diffusing into space.
Yifan tightens his embrace on Junmyeon, and the latter finds himself back to reality. His reality with Yifan.
It is only then that he realizes that he could only enjoy seeing all these colors when he’s with Yifan. Every morning is naturally like this, yet there is magic into it whenever he wakes up by Yifan’s side.
A few seconds later, Junmyeon feels the other’s breath take a stable pace.
Closing his eyes, he plants a kiss softly on Yifan’s neck, leans his forehead on the other’s neck, and allows himself to drift once again into subconsciousness.
