Tabletop vs. LARPers?

So, here is today's Penny Arcade.

In the article to explain the comic, Tycho says that there is a division between Table Top gamers and LARPers.
But the funny thing to me is that many of the Table Top players that I know are ALSO LARPers as well.  Most came from table top and continue to do so (when time and schedule allow), but have also moved into LARP.  Not only that, but Winter Haven is RUN by table top gamers.  Where would Minds Eye Theater be if it wasn't for the Table Top versions of the games? It seems more like Football fans and Baseball fans battling it out over which sport is better, when it's really  not a choice between one or the other--both are "Sports Fans", but there is a false rivalry that has built walls that don't need to be there... like so many things, the "label" and "sides" aspect are so easy to fall into.

So what are your thoughts on this? Do you feel there's a gulf between LARPers and Table Toppers?
