Somewhat Successful

So, many weeks ago, rantingmule  drew this absurdly cute picture of his character Chai pouncing on Torakhan.  However, the result wasn't what he was hoping for, and so it got tossed into a pile of orphaned images.  I thought it was cute and wanted to to try inking it.

I tried a new pen Faber-Castell brush pen) for this experimental piece just to see how it would work. It's a very bold line stroke over-all but I think it was fairly successful.  I like it a bit more than the Pigma (Micron maker) brush because it's a bit stiffer and I feel like I have more control with it.
I'm not sure if I'll try coloring it, or if I'll send it back to Kyle, or what just yet... maybe I'll get this copied and attack it with some different coloring techniques/inks and see what happens from there.

In other news...
FurNation has the hosted web sites back up and running, but my account will be re-created sometime this weekend (if only GoDaddy's system wasn't frakking me over, I'd be using that.. but having my old URLs working again will be nicer.)

I got some hints from my boss that maybe I should start looking for another job--he'll take me back if the jobs I was hired to do re-materialize, but the way the clients have been over the last year or two, they're moving away from my area of ability (I'm not a great designer) and he is going to try to get a FREE intern to come in and do what I was doing.  *sighs*  I might try applying at some of the other companies around here... but first I need to spend a day or so at the shop and go through the thousand or so files I created in the last 4 years and find the best examples of what I created.  I'm also going to call Ferris State University and find out just how close I am to a diploma in anything they offer... it might not be Visual Design, just.. a piece of paper would be nice at this point since I have to go job hunting again.

I will be Sr. Volunteer again at Gen Con this year... I hope whatever I'm doing in August won't be screwed up with that.

I have a few drawing projects on the board to start working on... races, character classes, items and other things for a gaming rule book my friends are working on.  While not paid for, this is something that I always wanted to do (b/w interior gaming book artwork), so I hope to be able to start throwing those together rather quickly (I would love to do one every day or two days.)

Plans for Super Bowl are kinda up in the air right now... Last year I went over to a friend's place, and there were about 6 or so folks there, but I got discouraged when they would not let me watch/listen to the commercials (which is one of the main reasons I watch the event.)  So I'm not sure what all is going on just yet.

It's been over a month now without Diet Coke/Caffine.  I cut down from 2 liters a day to zero.  Without a job getting me up every day at the same time, I find that my internal sleep schedule is all out of whack. I will get to bed at 11pm but am up again at 3am and have to force myself back to sleep (if I can.)  I will be just fine through the morning and find myself needing a nap before nightfall or else my eyes feel like they're being pushed out from the back.  I've tried putting myself on a schedule, but it didn't work. *sighs*  Still, I gotta stay positive--I do NOT want to get in some depressive funk that is sooo easy to slip into.

I downloaded the songs from The Sivs (the metamorphosized incarnation of Craic Wisely as a British Rock band) and listening to the couple of tracks on the album (They offer the songs for free on their download page.)  So far I like Breaking At The Seams and Chasing the Sun.  Personally, I think the way Todd sings and the band plays, I think they sound a lot like Caroline Spine, myself (remember Sullivan?)
