Fourth update from Gencon, Saturday Afternoon

Aug 16, 2008 13:47

Last night I got out of work at Exhibitor Services and headed to my hotel room for a nap.  At 9pm I met up with the Crafty Games folks and it was suggested that we go to the Weber to see if they could accomodate a group of 13.  If they couldn't.. well, no biggie because it was on our way out of the building anyways.  We got there and SURPRISE, another group of 13 had JUST left and they seated us immediately.  "We'll seat you now for your.. ehem.. 9:45 reservation.. *wink wink*."  Anyways we all sat and ... well, had good conversations and I had good food.  Matt had the Hickory Smoked Prime Rib (that I liked, but he wasn't so impressed for the $), and I had the 24 oz. Pork Steak.. (smoked and grilled too) and it was very good.  I gave Matt a taste (Gnome too) and I think they both almost killed me.
After closing down the restaurant, some of us headed to Steak N' Shake for icecream goodness and chatted some more before we finally disbanded and I headed back to the room to crash.

Thus far, today's been fairly uneventful.  I picked up my "Tora" piece from Jeff Carlisle, but that's about it.
Tonight might be more Weber Grill with the friends I haven't seen much of this weekend.  Not sure if that's where we'll wind up, but there are more items on the menu I haven't tried yet. ;)

I haven't decided if I'm leaving Sunday night or Monday morning.  The idea of going home and spending some time on the internet and taking care of things on an actual "day off" sounds pretty damn enticing... even if I have to drive until 4am to get there.
