... Watching the 2008 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremonies...

• Won't they pause it for commercial breaks?  o.O
Since the ceremonies were pre-recorded, why did they have to "interrupt" the ceremony with commercials and then come back having missed some of what was going on?  I mean, really... especially since it was not just "bob sings a song" but a story being told.  I found that irritating.  Bad NBC.  Bad.  No biscuit.

• During the Opening Ceremony for the 2008 Olympic Games.. the camera moves from a girl singing a song to a picture of President Bush leaning over his wife to talk to Vladimir Putin, who's leaning across (his own wife?) and talking to one another.  The announcer comments...
"President Bush still talking to Vladimir Putin, perhaps about that opening drum number, still..."
*L*  Yeah.. a day when Russia and Georgia are fighting one another after Georgia attacked into Russia to claim a city and Russia attacked back.  Oh, yes.. definitely talking about drums.

• The footsteps in fireworks were fantastic.  What a great idea.

• 230'+ x 70' foot long LCD Screen FTW! (too bad it's got ink marks on it now.  I wonder if it'll be up on Ebay in a few weeks. ^.^)

• The movable blocks... were amazing.  Such synchronization of people to lift and lower them.  It makes you think that there's NO WAY it was people doing that... that it must have been a trick.. somehow.  Hydraulics? Something?... wow.  Just amazing.

• I have a feeling the faux-waterfall effect may be found elsewhere after this. What a simple, but wonderful idea.

• Since there's no "Alphabetical Order" in Chinese... countries came in based on the number of strokes in their country's name in Chinese.

• Why bagpipes for the Parade of Nations (when athletes entering the stadium)?  Because the Chinese instruments weren't annoying enough? *L*

• With all of the money that was spent, sure... they could have spent it on "their people", but they could have also spent it on weapons.  I sincerely hope that the money spent will help the Chinese people more than other things... Wouldn't that be a nice thought?
