I don’t use the OK hand sign because in Brazil it has a very different meaning (you are calling someone a cunt). I always use a thumbs up since moving there.
I think so. The only time I ever used face paint was when I went as an alien. I was completely green. The rest of the time, I was usually something boring like a ballerina. I sometimes wear a medieval or Viking age costume, but my ancestry is mostly German and Norwegian, so no serious cultural appropriation.
I am still offended by you wearing the Viking costume (I can be since my heritage is more Scandinavian than yours). You also apparently find it OK to make fun of people suffering from hypochromic anemia who sometimes develop green skin tingle. And just because we haven't found the aliens yet, doesn't mean that it is OK to appropriate. Highly problematic.
You are right. In retrospect, I think I may have been channeling Andorians, though I had green skin and purple hair (worked up into antennae). Shame on me. On the Norse thing, we have had a lot of conversations about cultural appropriation vs respectful interpretation. I think we mostly get it right (except for my Chinese daughter, who goes by Astrid and shamelessly wanders around in an apron dress).

I am deeply traumatised by your daughter. Have been in pain and crying for hours. This was just the final straw on top of my Moldovan son running around with his wooden sword with "I am Ragnar Lothbrok!!!" all the time. I tried to explain to him that dressing, eating, doing your hair and even playing must be done in way that matches your DNA or it is highly problematic and possibly racist. He won't listen.
