So it's that time again... 'the holidays'... People feel a false obligation to be joyous and overly nice but to tell you the truth I have always found this time of year to be both annoying and creepy. I saw a movie, "Christmas With the Kranks", and the main characters in the story decide to skip Christmas because their daughter, Blair, left to join the peace core. Well it's one of those nice holiday heart warmers, and everything turns out great in the end with little bit of love, a pinch of hard work, and a dash of Christmas spirit. Well, I was thinking, it wouldn't be that bad to skip Christmas. Believe me when i say, I'm not trying to be the Ebeneezer Scrooge to your 'A Christmas Carol', I'm mearly a little annoyed and creeped out by people who smile and say "happy holidays" but at the same time all they have their mind on is beating you to the last can of cranberry sauce so their family can enjoy a holiday meal with all the fixings. As I get older all i see Christmas time as is a time to be fake, everyone puts on a happy face for the kids.
Since the 'smile it's the holidays' thing has been done for who knows how long, I wont break tradition. I'll just put on a happy face and smile when I'm stealthily racing the old man next to me for the last train set in KB toys.
On the other hand, I do like the feeling of Christmas when everyone gets to open presents and everyone is real glad that they got all their shiny new toys. After all this I am overwhelmed with a feeling of privlegde. What do kids do that don't get anything for Christmas, that must suck.
