[The feed runs for a few quiet seconds. Souji sits in his croft, apparently watching something on the communicator screen.

Strange to think he's celebrating a New Year here - needless to say, it's pretty different from what he's used to.

But there's a small smile on his face.]

[A pause, and then, precisely on time:]

[ Hey, Souji. Have a little girl next to you, tugging at your sleeve. SHE IS EXCITE but also looks sort of sleepy since it's late and she's a little kid. ]

Happy New Year, big bro! It's.. [ A small yawn. ] ... been a while since we got here, huh..?

[ action ]

[He smiles, kneeling down to help her tug on another sweater - one of his, so it's more like a woolly dress than a shirt. It's cold out there, after all.]

Yeah, it has.

[Longer than he expected, certainly.]

Hey, are you sure you want to go out? You seem pretty tired, sis.

[ action ]

[ For a moment she's lost in the sweater, but she finds the gap to put her head through a moment later. ]

Uh-huh, I really want to go out and celebrate the new year! [ Even though she still looks sort of tired. But it seems like she's made up her mind already. ]

[ action ]

Yoooooo.

[Yosuke leans in through their window, grinning.]

We heading? Sure you don't want to sleep first, Nanako-chan?

[ action ]

[Souji smiles, wrapping a scarf around her before leading her over to the door and pulling open.]

Pretty sure her mind's set, right sis?

[He dips back inside to snag a lantern. He's gotten used to dark nights, to seeing using moonlight, but not with this cloud cover, and not when the moon is so thin. So he steps outside again, closes the door, and holds out his free hand for Nanako's.]

I'm fine! [ She flashes a smile back at Yosuke, even though she still has a slightly tired look in her eyes. ] I can stay up for a bit longer.

[ Outside Nanako takes a moment to gaze in awe at the night sky-- after all, the night this late is something magical to little children who have barely experienced it this late before. When Souji returns she immediately grabs that free hand. ]

Yeah! But.. it's a secret.

[ action ]

[Yosuke grins and falls into step with them.]

Heh, yeah. You gotta keep it secret or it won't come true, right?

[The stars really are pretty incredible here. Souji, used to city lights, had thought Inaba put on a show at night, but even that is nothing in comparison to this.

Demeleier's not all bad, really. In fact, they've got quite a lot to be thankful for.

He chuckles, keeping to the places where the snow has been walked thin for Nanako's sake.]

Alright, alright. Just making sure we're all prepared.

I really want it to come true, so I won't tell anyone it for sure!

[ Nanako happily walks in the landscape that's covered with a blanket of snow. After all, snow is amazing and fun to her and you can play in it. So even though she's tired from being up this late she's still walking energetically.

She happily starts humming a song. ]
