What on Earth...?
[Layton turns over in bed to find the drone wife next to him and yelps; scrambling backward from the bed and falling onto the floor. Thankfully, he didn't wake her up; he gets to his feet, looking around in confusion. This building is completely unfamiliar, and these aren't his clothes. He reaches to the top of his head and feels only his hair. Where is his hat?
Careful not to wake the strange woman up, he heads toward the door, when he notices photographs on the dresser; heading closer only adds to his confusion and vague sense of dread. He's never seen this woman before in his life; why would he marry her? Who are those children? A weight on his left hand distracts him from the photos; he looks down. A plain gold band adorns his left ring finger; in a sudden fit of anger, he wrenches it off, planning to throw it down the heating vent by the wall -- he suddenly thinks better of it, placing it gently on the dresser, behind the photos where it can't be easily found by someone who doesn't know where it is. It may come in handy later.
He continues toward the door and down the hall. He has to find out more.]
My word, Don Paolo, you never give up, do you? This is certainly an elaborate ruse you've set up; I can only guess at its purpose. What did you tell these actors to get them to help you?
Nonetheless, I cannot help but notice that Luke and Flora are no longer by my side. I trust I'll find them unharmed.
