[Backdated to Valentine's Day, after Claire chokes]

I knew there was something suspicious about those candies. After what this place has put us through, I thought they'd do something to interfere with the holiday. I found myself acting odd after I'd eaten one, and it seems I wasn't alone.

[The candy seems to be wearing off very slowly, at least enough that he's pretty ashamed of his recent public phone post. But at the mention of Claire, he pushes his humiliation aside.]

She choked on one. I managed to get it out of her before any real damage could be done, I think, but... the danger was still there.

[He clamps a hand over his mouth. Okay, so maybe the candy effects weren't completely gone.]

That's a good idea. It's always best to put enough thought into your gifts so the recipient knows that it's something just for them.

You might try jewelry, I suppose, but I believe that would be a bit too expensive for you, unless you made something yourself. You can never go wrong with food either, really, as long as you know what she likes.
