Walking through a new door.

Willy had never thought that he would have a chance to go back home, even if it were for a short while. He saw a new door in his apartment and decided to allow his curiosity to get the best of him. He took a chance, turned the knob and the scene of his father's house greeted his eyes. "Oh great...of all places, it leads me here. Can the ghosts show mercy just once?"

He stepped through the door and swallowed his pride. He didn't like the idea of facing his father and facing him alone was even harder. His first thought was turn away from the scene and never look back. Caught between the threshold of the haunted apartments that had served as his home for a few months now and the home that he knew as a child tore him apart. Both places were bad. Both hindered his future. He deliberated his options as he leaned against the door frame, his eyes closed, with his spine in perfect alignment to the frame.

"Great Ganesha, what do I do? I've never been so uncertain and yet I am. I've been certain before and now it's like I'm thrown back into my childhood all over again. Is this a test?" Willy lolled his head to look at the door that lead to his childhood home and cringed.

He pulled his body from the door and looked at the icy scenery with the lone house in the middle of the field. "I've never backed down from an adventure and I'm not going to start now. One thing that I've learned from these ghosts is running isn't always the answer," he said with renewed fortitude.

He stepped through the door with certainty in his pace. He walked passed his glass elevator and chuckled. He remembered that a few times he tried to talk to him in the past but couldn't bring himself to come to the door. This time was different. This time, he was going to face his father and he will do so without help.

He took his first steps on the front stoop just as the door opened to reveal his father's white coat and aging features. Willy's heart nearly stopped beating for a moment as he stared with wide eyes behind dark sunglasses, his expression was of utter shock.
