On Sunday the ABC showed Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol, a day after the UK. I really enjoyed it and am now looking forward to seeing what Series 6 has in store in 2011.
Here are my thoughts:
1. I loved the setting, in the future but elements of Victorian London. It was perfect for a Doctor Who version of Charles Dickens' novel A Christmas Carol. Steven Moffat did a brilliant job.
2. The flying fish were fantastic, especially the shark which at first was evil but turned out to be really nice. Seeing a sleigh being pulled along by the shark was weird but fun at the same time.
3. The love story between Abigail and Kazran was superb, also heartbreaking after it was discovered that she nearly used the time she had left. I'm glad that they got to spend Christmas day together and fly away in the sleigh with the Shark.
4. Brilliant to know what Amy and Rory were doing in the honeymoon suite. The awkwardness when they appeared dressed in a police uniform and the roman solder outfit. I actually love a little role playing
5. Katherine Jenkins who played Abigail has an amazing voice. If you didn't know she is a welsh opera singer and I believe she has some albums out.
6. I like the clueless nature of the Doctor when asked about women. It was funny that he ended up marrying Marlyn Monroe and she rang to ask where he was, very awkward.
In summary it was a nice Christmas Doctor Who story, a simple story with no real enemies but where a man discovered that people can change and learnt the real meaning of Christmas.
