Creating Stories In My Head (Jack/Ianto, PG-13)

The light was on in Jack’s office when I emerged from the archives. It was usual for him to disappear unnoticed from time to time. Tonight however I wondered where he had gone after our little celebration of a successful night. With everything that had happened today it was no surprise if he wanted some time to himself but I knew there was more to it, something he didn’t want us to worry about.

I crept up the stairs and stopped at the door. Jack was at his desk, looking at a piece of paper in his hand. I leant on the door frame and watched him for awhile, wondering what was on his mind. He picked up a pen and scribbled something on to another piece of paper.

“Brigstocke won’t be bothering us anymore,” Jack said breaking the silence. His eyes remained on the piece of paper, “I had drinks with him earlier.”

“Oh, that’s good,” I replied with a smile, not knowing what else to say.

“Yes, though he wanted to join Torchwood.” He looked up from his desk, “even after I told him about how his friend died.”

“Well he got the truth I guess.”

“Yeah he did but sadly he won’t remember it,” Jack revealed with a small smile. “Still it’s done now and I only choose the best.”

He picked up the pen again and wrote something else down. The piece of paper was still clutched in his hand. I realised now that it was a photo of someone, an old lover perhaps or an old friend. I didn’t care which but curiosity got the better of me, in my mind a story unfolded about a dashing, charming hero meeting a stable boy and fucking him in the stables. Yeah I quite liked that story.

“How are you?” He asked, distracting me from my daydream.

“Fine,” I smiled, “just glad to be visible.”

Jack laughed, “Yeah, though it was good to imagine that...” he stopped and put down his pen. “Hmm I just got an idea.”

I rolled my eyes and entered the office. The smile on Jack’s face made me uncomfortable about what he had on his mind. To start with being invisible was an experience I didn’t want to repeat again, especially when I was naked. I didn’t want it to turn into some sort of game that Jack liked to play.

“Ever played hide and seek?”

“Yes, when I was a child,” I replied with a smirk.

“Ever played it naked?”

I raised an eyebrow and said nothing. The idea of Jack hiding somewhere in the hub naked was quite attractive, a real turn on. I wondered if he played it with the very handsome stable boy. The story this time told of a cheating player who opened an eye and watched Charlie run towards the end of the stables. I shook my head and walked closer to the desk.

“Why are you looking at a picture of Charlie?”

Jack shrugged, “I find him attractive.”

I smiled, “he also contacted you right?” Jack frowned and looked at the photo. He was now ignoring me, probably wishing I would leave me alone to his thoughts. Charlie was a subject we weren’t allowed to discuss, along with Flat Holm and Operation Goldenrod.

“He’s my responsibility remember,” I reminded him. “Whatever he has done this time I can deal with it.”

“David Brigstocke discovered that Charlie had information about Torchwood,” Jack replied and picked up his pen. “I knew making him a journalist was a bad idea.”

“Charlie is a great journalist,” I replied bitterly. “He worked hard for that job.”

“I know but he has to be careful.”

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. Last time I saw Charlie, he was enthusiastic about an article he was writing for a popular science magazine. I don’t remember the subject but it involved Switzerland and some twenty year old research project.

“I’m pretty sure he went to Geneva,” I said with a small smile, “to see what CERN is working on.”

“What’s that got to do with....?”

“Nothing but Charlie knows when to keep his mouth shut,” I told him, “besides Unit is easier to get information from.”

“I’m going to ignore that,” Jack said with a frown. “Please just talk to Charlie.”

I nodded and filed it away on the mental list of things to do. It was a long list that seemed to go forever but I always managed to get them done. Charlie always teased me about it, saying that he was surprised my head hasn’t exploded. He would also expect me to listen to Rufus Wainwright. The list was certainly getting longer.

I turned to leave. There was nothing else to talk about....well that was what I thought anyway.

“Come back in ten minutes,” Jack called out.

“Why?”

I heard a chuckle, “naked hide and seek,” he explained, “You need to know the rules.”

I rolled my eyes. It wasn’t going to take ten minutes to make up the rules, unless he was going to find a hiding place. I smiled to myself and thought about how the story was going to unfold. Jack would be the cheating player, too hungry for his prize. I needed to be smarter for the game to be fair but end up being outsmarted myself. I smiled and hurried down the stairs.

In the tourist centre I went through Charlie’s file from the 90s. Jack was naked and gently stroking his cock, licking his lips with pleasure. I shook my head and tried to focus but my mind kept wandering towards the dirty images that turned me on.

“Only five more minutes,” I said aloud.

“I have to hide then,” a voice said from the doorway.

I grinned, “You better be naked.”

“Well that would be the point,” Jack replied with a laugh.

“You’re going to cheat,” I said cheekily. “So I’m going to count first.”

“Alright but you won’t be able to find me.”

My mind told a very different story and this time I was going to be the winner.
