The London List: Part One

Dec 02, 2008 14:44

Awhile ago after dropping Donna home to her family I decided to write a list of things to do while visiting London in the 90s. After finishing the list I promptly went to Cardiff to ask Jack to come with me as a sort of male bonding exercise. In other words it didn’t really take much to persuade him to come but I still had to give him a reason. After saying goodbye to everyone we quickly left for London and did the first thing on my list.

Things to do while in London

1. Feed the pigeons at Trafalgar Square

“There is no way you can make me do that!” Jack said after I handed him the brown paper bag full of bird feed with a pleading smile. “I know it’s the 90s but they are dirty pigeons.”

“Oh come on you will enjoy it.” I pleaded giving him the brown puppy dog eyes. “It’s been awhile since I’ve done this and I can’t tick it off the list until you’ve done it.”

“Fine but you’re paying my laundry bill.” He replied, rolling his eyes before joining me over at the fountain.

We sat down and I looked up at the blue sky above. The Tardis had landed on a very beautiful day where children were chasing after the pigeons with bird feed in their hands while their parents watched with laughter. It had been a good idea to spend the day in 90s London as it was one era that I had never visited. We even landed on a Sunday. I never landed on a Sunday.

“Look here come the pigeons.” Jack said pointing at two blue and grey pigeons wandering up to where we sat.

I threw some feed onto the ground and watched as they started to feast like seagulls eating leftover chips at the beach. It was such a wonderful sight that it was a shame that it was banned in 21st century London. Though I did agree that the buildings should remain poop free especially with the Olympics coming up. Well technically that was eighteen years away.

“You know these pigeons are actually rock doves.” I told Jack who also threw a bit of feed onto the ground. “But they are part of the pigeon family.”

“Where did you learn that?” Jack asked curiously with those blue eyes.

“QI, Stephen’s Fry’s quiz about interesting facts.” I answered with a grin. “Well I already knew but I couldn’t resist.”

Jack nodded and put his hand into the paper bag before throwing more feed to the pigeons. A smile passed over Jack’s lips.

“See you’re getting into it.” I said still grinning.

Plop

“Damn dirty pigeon!” Jack yelled jumping up from where we were sitting. “IT’S NOT FUNNY DOCTOR.”

By now I was in hysterics after I noticed what the pigeon had done to his Jacket. I laughed so much that.

Splash

“That will teach you to laugh.”

Feed the pigeons in Trafalgar square- done but got wet in the process.

2. Eat Chips
