“So has Jordan Baker called you back yet?”
I closed the file and smiled, “I don’t go for golfers.”
“Shame because she’s pretty hot,” there was a pause, “Oh Peter meet my friend Nick Caswell.”
“You know this guy?” Peter asked looking at me.
“Um yeah, Neal Caffrey right?” I answered pretending to only just recognised him.
“Right, we went to college together.”
“Liar, he knows my father, Thomas Caswell, you know the famous conman based in London.”
Peter smiled, “He’s not in the file.”
“Friend of the family, the Caffreys.”
“Oh right, well I’ll leave you to it.”
I looked at Neal and wished I was thirteen again.
Nick/Neal (In Nick’s Car)
“Can we change the CD?”
“No I like Stereophonics.”
“I used to always hate your music tastes.”
“Well sorry for not liking American music.”
“You are so British or Australian or whatever it is you are.”
“Ha, you always never understood that, I’m an Australian British man who moved to America in his teens.”
“Yeah that, did it ever occur to you that it confuses people?”
“You should ask my stepfather, he’s a Scottish American with two accents.”
“Really,”
“Yep, freaks me out every time.
Nick/June (At the front door to June and Neal’s house)
“Hello, how may I help a handsome gentleman?”
“Oh well um....” I was a little taken back, “Sorry but does a Neal Caffrey live here?”
“Of course, he’s having breakfast,” She replied with a smile, “Care to come in.”
I smiled, “Thanks but I’m on my way to work,” I explained, “I just wanted to see if I had the right address.”
“Of course, well do you want me to tell him that you were here?”
“There’s no need since I’ll be back later....”
“But just in case you don’t”
I smiled, “Well tell him Nick Carraway came to see him, he’ll know.”
“A Great Gatsby reference, I love it.”
“So did my mother.”
